One of the most iconic American muscle cars ever made, the Stingray has captured the hearts of car lovers since it was first introduced in 1963. This beautiful, two owner, Rally Red 1966 big block convertible is the perfect example of the highly sought after model. With its numbers matching 427 big block V8 mated to the new factory side pipes, the original 4 speed manual transmission, and the top down, this car is a joy to drive. Restored approximately 20 years and 4,000 miles ago, the engine underwent an extensive rebuild with cylinders bored out .0030, new pistons and rings installed, engine and flywheel balanced, new camshaft installed, all bearings, push rods, rocker arms, valves, springs and lifters were replaced. The cylinder heads were also reworked to accept the use of unleaded fuel. As a result, the car runs great with the use of premium unleaded fuel. To help solve the problem of the typical big block engine overheating, a high capacity water pump, oversized aluminum radiator, and electric fans were all installed. Underneath the Vette has had a lot of work done as well including rear leaf spring replaced, front coil springs reset to stock specs, new shocks, front and rear sway bars replaced, all rubber parts replaced with neoprene. To make braking smoother and easier, power brakes were installed with the front and rear aluminum disk brake pistons and sleeves replaced with stainless to prevent leaking. Stock power steering was also installed to aid in handling. Outside, the car wears its original color, Rally Red, having once been painted to Sunburst Yellow. The hard top that is included with the car is still painted in the Yellow paint as it was never used by this recent owner. A new black soft top was added and fits very well as well as new glass all around. Inside, the seats are still in good shape, there is a radio delete but still has an antenna, gauges were all refreshed, carpets have been replaced, and the clock was switched out with a working electronic look-alike.
