1961 Chevy Apache Stepside Pickup Truck

This Apache is quite unique due to the list offactory original optionsand since it retains the desirable patina of a very solid sunbaked California truck:

Factory custom cab with large back window, V8, powerglide automatic transmission, Power brakes and power steering.

Factory gauge cluster with tachometer. Most have speedo and idiot warning lights. This is a California truck with no rust issues.

Appears this was not a work truck since the bed sides were not beat up.

I kept it as original rather than modernize but did add rear air bags and adjustable panhard bar to center and level the stance.

Runs and rides very smooth.

No engine noises and no rattles. Engine is a 327 Cu In Chevy V-8 from a 67 Camaro. I do believe it was rebuilt along the way since it is a very dry engine with no major leaks from anywhere.

List of Major Improvements

Interior completely restored including factory original gauge cluster with FACTORY Tachometer.

New front and rear glass including rubber weatherstripping.

All new door weather strip and window felt.

All new oak bed/strips with hardware.

Michelin tires with Cragar steel wheels....all NEW and currently only 2,000 miles on them.

Transmission and rear end completely rebuilt.

NEW gas tank, fuel lines, fuel pump and Edelbrock four barrel carburetor.

Air bags installed in rear with new shock absorbers and panhard bar.

60's era Edelbrock cast valve covers, restored and expensive.

Needs attention.....

- Power steering control valve leaks and transmissions lines leak due to several splices. One good line and this issue could be easily resolved.

- Small paint separation on the upper inside corner of the cab....see photo.

- Truck will sometimes jump out of park at idle even though a new parking prawl was installed when rebuilt. For now, truck is kept in neutral with parking brake on.

- Factory tach and battery gauge are original and do not read exactly accurate. They would have to be re-calibrated to be accurate.

OVERALL, THIS IS A GREAT RUST FREE CALIFORNIA TRUCK WITH MANY DESIRABLE FEATURES SUCH AS THE LARGE BACK WINDOW AND RARE FACTORY GAUGES AND TRIM.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE ITEMS SUCH AS TRANS AND INTERIOR REBUILDS ARE DONE AND THE NEXT OWNER WILL HAVE MINOR ISSUES TO DEAL WITH TO FINISH CREATING A WONDERFUL CLASSIC RIDE!
