1966 Chevrolet Impala Description

As to myself, I am a (70) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I am retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback that is at 100% with (1,266) transactions. Many of my transactions have been muscle cars, which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands. My reputation for honesty is well known amongst muscle car lovers.

Just some quick history on the 1966 Chevrolet Impala Station Wagon.

New sheet metal for 1962 provided another all-new look for the full size Chevrolets including, of course, the Impala. Impala two-door hardtops received a new roofline mimicking the appearance of a convertible top in the up position — an idea which appeared on the Sport Sedan four-door hardtop the previous model year. (1962 Bel Air two-door hardtops carried over the bubbletop styling for one more year.) Sales of the two-door hardtops soared well past those of 1961; total Impala sales were more than 700,000 cars. The SS package became a regular production option, but with six-cylinder power as standard issue. Most of them, though, were ordered with an extra-cost V-8 including the new small-block 327. The 348 was dropped in favor of the 409. Other changes included adding bucket seats and a console to the SS package, dropping the Impala two-door sedan and adding an Impala station wagon to the model lineup. The model year was a great one for Chevy, which was celebrating its 50th anniversary.

I have tons of photos and a video I can send to serious people:

This 1966 Chevrolet Impala Station Wagon, that I am selling here today, is a rare find. All original big block drivetrain with the original build sheet is hard to find in any classic/muscle car let alone a station wagon. This Impala Wagon is not mint but is a big block, original drivetrain and a great driver deserving a complete restoration.

While stationwagons tend to be admired by many automotive enthusiasts, it is not often that a wagon, like mine, is the first one to come to mind. Nomads and Vista Cruisers might get all the attention, but you really need to take a look at what’s under the hood to really appreciate just how cool this wagonis. With a selling price affordable to the enthusiast, this would be a great vehicle to own and take the family in for any type of enjoyment. I don’t believe you will ever lose money on these rare big block Chevys.

Exterior: The “code CC” Ermine White Exterior Paint appears to have been repainted at some point and should be considered “driver quality. Chrome and bright-work are good to very good. All body panels appear to be original with a small amount of body work completed during the repaint. All glass appears to be original to the car with the LOF AS-2 Solid Tempered Safety Plate engraved on the glass. The only non-original glass is the windshield that was replaced at some point with original GM LOF AS-1 Shaded/Laminated Safety Plate glass. Tires and rims are in very good condition.

All exterior items work such as:

· Head lights;

· Tail lights;

· Back-up lights:

· Blinkers;

· Brake lights;

· Horn;

· Wipers.

Interior: The interior appears to be the original green vinyl two tone bench seat interior. It is actually pretty nice with the exception of the area where the driver sat for around 44 years. I have completed a temporary fix in the front seat for now and added a seat pad over that area. The headliner is OK but does have a few small rips. The padded dash has three slits in it. The rear cargo area needs to be restored but is fine for now. All doors and glass open and close as they should including the electric tail gate. I have installed new carpet as well as cleaning up pretty much all of the interior trim. (FYI, In my video when discussing the interior gauges, I say that the air works. I mean the air for the heater not the A/C.)

All gauges/misc. items are functional such as:

· Horn (button under dash);

· Fuel Gauge;

· Speedometer;

· Heater; (A/C not working)

· Radio not working;

· Dome light;

· Glove box light;

· Cigarette lighter not working;

· Electric rear window.

Engine: The original 396ci engine is still powering the car. With power steering and power brakes the wagon has plenty of get up and go and stopping ability. There is no smoking or funny noises.

Spare; The spare tire area includes what looks to be an original spare tire as well as the complete jack assembly minus the lug wrench.

Undercarriage; Very clean undercarriage. Original turbo hydromatic 400 automatic transmission. Original 12-bolt rear axle. New brakes all around. New shocks all around. New oil/filter change. New front end alignment coming this week.

WINNING BIDDER DOES NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO LOOK THIS CAR OVER AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSES TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THEY WANT TO BUY. INSPECTIONS "MUST" BE DONE PRIOR TO THE CLOSE OF THE AUCTION WITH NO EXCEPTIONS.
