1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 RS Description

Wow, a holy grail of Z-28s! Certified by Jerry MacNeish as being a real Rally Sport Z-28 with extremely rare and desirable factory colors. It was born a Yellow RS-Z with yellow houndstooth deluxe interior, cowl induction, gauges, spoilers and more. A multi year, body off frame restoration was recently completed.
EXTERIOR: Factory code 76-76, that is Daytona yellow with no vinyl top. It was also born with D80 spoilers, ZL2 special ducted hood and the Z22 Rally Sport package. It has been very well restored. The body appears to be clean metal. It's had full quarters, bottom of doors are clean, fenders look new. Even inside the rear wheel wells is clean and painted yellow. The panels are straight I don't see any damage or bubbles. The paint is polished to a very glossy, smooth finish, the stripes are even smooth to the touch. It has an optional Enduro rubber front bumper in excellent shape. It looks like all the trim was replaced including the grill, emblems, marker lights, handles, tail lights, reverse lights. All the stainless trim was taken up a notch and polished like chrome. The windshield is new. The weather strips and window fuzzies have been replaced. It even has correct YH coded 15x7 rally wheels with new trim. It has the same exact reproduction tires that were on the car- Firestone Sport Car 200. The car has a nice stance. The Z comes with bumper guards to meet regulation because the 15 inch wheels raise the height of the bumper. The Rally Sport package obviously includes the hideaway headlights, these have been upgraded with electric motors. It also means the reverse lights are relocated down below the back bumper. This car also has the exterior trim which includes stainless moldings on the gutters, wheel wells and louver trim on the quarter panels. Another rare feature is the remote mirror, this one's been rechromed.
INTERIOR: Ultra rare and desirable interior- code 714 which is yellow houndstooth deluxe. It's also features the full gauge package with an 8 grand tach and working clock. Inside the car is restored very nicely. On the floor it has new carpet, dimmer switch, pedal trim and correct reproduction GM seat belts. The center console and the gauges are all new. It has correct Hurst shifter with chrome ball. In front of me everything on the dash looks new- the bezels, wood grain, lenses, vents, heater controls, ashtray and cigarette lighter. It has a radio delete plate. Even up under the dash looks new- the firewall insulation, wiring loom are new, the heater box was restored. Up above the mirror, visors, headliner are new, dome light works. It is missing the shoulder belts. The deluxe molded door panels were replaced, new window cranks.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a period correct DZ 302. Completely rebuilt with correct internals. #s match & correctly dated Holley carb, correct aluminum intake. Correctly dated alternator, distributor and the original brake booster was replated, original master cylinder. It has correct components like deep groove pulleys, finned valve covers, cowl induction air cleaner assembly, dated plug wires, reproduction hoses and clamps. The original radiator was rebuilt. The original cowl tag was never removed from the car. The compartment is detailed nicely.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It appears to be perfectly clean metal floor neatly painted a gray spatter finish. Looking inside at the quarters it looks like they replaced full panels at factory seams. Bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb are painted glossy. The weather strip, decals and insulation behind the seat have been replaced. Looks like a new wiring harness as well. We just located and purchased a 5th YH coded 15x7 rally for a spare too.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame and the bottom was restored and detailed. Front end components are all new- the ball joints, bushings, springs, sway bar, shocks etc. In back it has the correct 4-leaf springs with new bushings and shocks. The floors look dry, inner rockers and lower quarters are dry metal. They duplicated it back to original by painting a gray primer with the yellow body overspray. The brake system has been completely redone, disc in front. New brake lines, hoses, emergency brake cables. All new fuel system including tank, straps, sending unit and lines. Has a new exhaust system. Bottom of the motor looks spotless, starter is restored. It has vin # matched, original to this car Muncie M-20 4-speed. Also original to this car 12 bolt 3.73 posi rear.
This is a beautiful, show quality restoration. If someone were to bring it to concourse level I think it has potential of being a $125,000 car. This could be a centerpiece of any serious Camaro collection. Excellent investment potential. It will include the Jerry MacNeish Certificate, appraisal report and NCRS shipping order.
