1963 Chevrolet Corvair RAMPSIDE PICKUP HALF TON RESTORED Description

This 1963 Corvair 95 Rampside half-ton pickup is one of the 2,046 produced at the St. Louis, MO assembly plant. Powered comes from the original numbers matching 145 c.i. flat six-cylinder aluminum engine rated at 80 h.p. and backed by the original 4-speed manual transmission. The rear differential ratio is 3.89:1. (PLEASE NOTE, PHOTOS OF ENGINE ARE IN THE VIDEO) Prior owner added an electric fuel pump installed which is activated when the ignition is turned on.

Recently the engine received a new fan belt and a tune-up which included: coil, plugs, plug wires, points, cap, rotor, and condenser. No leaks were detected when photos were taken.

The two-tone single stage urethane is in excellent condition showing no bubbling or rust. From what I can gather from the ‘Trim Tag’, the original colors were Gold and Tangier. The undercarriage of the unitized body appears to be solid and without patch panels. The side view mirrors are not original to the car but are an improvement for vision. Windows go up and down smoothly and all of the glass appears to be original.

The interior is believed to be done in the original fawn vinyl with black carpeting and shows well. The dashboard was taken from a Corvair Monza “Spyder” and the mileage of 70,000 is not original to the car and the actual mileage since the restoration is unknown. The speedometer, odometer, and gas gauge function, but the amp, radio, and temperature gauges do not.

All of the exterior lights including the brake and turn signals work as they should. The steering and ride feel normal and the parking brake holds.

Areas which should be addressed: Carburetors should be rebuilt; car is stubborn to start but idles fine once up to operating temperature. Only one of the thermostatically controlled engine vents located beneath the rear gate functions properly, the other does not open. This could cause overheating. Also missing one hubcap.

The owner purchased this Rampside approximately 4 years ago and little in the way of history accompanied the purchase except for shop manuals and color charts. Since owning it he has driven it less than 500 miles to local shows.

Selling to scale down his collection.

I have been an active eBay seller of cars and other items for more than 15 years and maintained a 100% rating during most of that period. Approximately 10 years ago I started an online service assisting owners of Classic, Vintage, and Muscle cars to sell their vehicles without them leaving the garage. These are private individual owners who do not want to deal with the public and all the endless phone calls, “Tire kickers”, and other nonsense that goes on when trying to sell a car. They just want someone to sell it!!
