1965 Chevrolet Corvette Description

1965 Corvette

Unrestored 1965 Corvette Two top Roadster. Factory 327/365 hp, factory Transistor Ignition car, one of 620. The motor, transmission and rear end are original to the car. Odometer shows 45149 miles and could possibly be correct. Pictures of all part numbers and date code stampings are shown.

Two owner car, Nassau Blue (FF) original paint that is very presentable for its original age, of course there are imperfections with the typical small checking that occurs with paint this old. Still very presentable! All bonding strips are in place and paint consistency is the same around the entire car all bonding strips are visible. The EXCEPTION with the paint is on the drivers side front lower turn signal area. There is evidence of a repair to the Dr. Side turn signal and a small repair about 1/4 way up dr wheel well lip. It’s difficult to see however the car was nicely spotted in around the turn signal area and blended in about half way up the outside of the drive side fender. This was done earlier in the cars life. The bonding strip was not involved in the repair. The rest of the car is absolutely original paint.

The interior is untouched as well. The factory leather seats (415 B) are showing some wear as you would expect but still very presentable. Carpet is original and faded except under the floor mats and rear stowage area. Passing side carpet has a couple small tears but not enough to warrant replacement. (See pictures). The soft top is original to the car and is correctly date coded. Couple very small imperfection (see pictures)

Engine compartment is unrestored. Most everything under the hood is original to the car. It’s easier to list the few things not correct. As mentioned earlier this is a factory TI car the original TI distributor (1111060) was replaced under warranty. The current Distributor (1111157) is a factory correct dated TI distributor that was used on 350 hp TI cars. The original 060 distributor comes with the car. The fuel pump is a correct replacement. The hoses have all been changed at some point as well as the hose clamps being incorrect, a set of correct date coded clamps come with the car. Current water pump is incorrect but the original (3859326) is rebuilt and comes with the car. The original Harrison radiator was leaking so a new Harrison/Dewitt 100% correct part number/ date coded radiator was installed, original radiator comes with car. The radiator cap is a correct replacement; non-original radiator cap comes with car... Also included is a correct set of date coded spark plug wires.

The underside of the car is unrestored as you would expect, exhaust pipes are original as well as all muffler clamps, mufflers have been changed at some point. Exhaust tips are original. All ground straps are in place. Passenger side exhaust pipe heat shield is original to the car; driver’s side heat shield is a correct replacement. Original fuel tank was removed cleaned and reinstalled. The original power antenna was replaced with a dead on reproduction, original antenna comes with car but will need rebuilt. The car recently received the brakes rebuilt and all brake lines were correctly replaced. The transmission is original M20 Muncie; Rear end is original with its factory 411 gears. The rear leaf spring was replaced with a correct replacement many years ago.

The spare tire is the original black wall that has never been on the ground. Original jack and handle are in place. Wheels are original to the car, current tires are from the mid-80, s. The car runs and drives great. Everything works except the clock. The car still has three out of the four original T3 headlights. Back up lights work, all turn signal, dash, interior and headlights work as they should. This is a very nice example of an unrestored corvette, only things changed where to keep the car up and running all these years.

The actual number of 327/365 hp cars ( with TI ignition) that are optioned as this car is = 625 per Nolan Adam’s book “ The complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide - Vol.2 1963 through 1967. I mistakenly list the number as 620 in my original description.
