WE JUST SOLD A SIMILAR 1969 SUBURBAN AND AS A RESULT WE FOUND THIS ONE JUST DOWN THE STREET. THIS COULD VERY WELL BE ONE OF THE MOST SOLID SUBURBANS WE HAVE SEEN. THE UNDERCARRIAGE LOOKS LIKE IT HAS NEVER SEEN A PUDDLE AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS JUST AS CLEAN.

This 1968 Chevrolet Suburban was assembled at the General Motors automobile factory in Fremont, California. It has spent its entire life in California and it shows, as the entire truck is rock solid. It also has no rust, other than some surface rust. The doors and floors are solid and the original wood in the cargo area is rock solid. The truck had been tucked away in a garage for 25-plus years before the most recent owner bought it and put a ton of money and labor into it to get it like it is today.

Almost everything on this Suburban has been restored or replaced. The entire driveline was replaced; it has a 454 Big Block with a Rochester Carb and a mild cam. It also has a freshly rebuilt Turbo 400 transmissionwith a new transmission cooler, a custom driveshaft and is running 3:83 gears in the rear end. It also has a newradiatorwith two electric fans, which make it runreal cool even in the California heat. It has all new stainless steel brake lines, a new gas tank and gas lines. It also has a ton of money in custom exhaust, which sounds great! It has new ceramic headers,Borla mufflers and a custom stainless exhaust. The suspension was just redone, too. We installed some lowering springs and new shocks. The original springs and a brand new set of stock coil over shocks will come with the truck. The list of the mechanical parts and work goes on and on, please see below.

The interior has also beenrefurbished. The front seats are vintage leather buckets from an earlyBlazer and the rear seat is a 60/40 seat from an early 80's Suburban that was just customreupholstered. The rear seat can fold all the way flat so you can fully utilize the cargo area. The carpet is new andinsulationwas installed from the firewall up to the cargo spacetoreduce road noise and heat. The rear cargo area was also done custom to match the rest of the interior. The two side panels and two cargo floors are done in the same carpet to match the rest of the interior. To finish it off, a new digital gauge cluster was installed with a new gauge bezel. The original AM radio, cigarettelighter and ashtray are there andnothing has been cut.

The overall condition of the truck is amazing. You can see that it was stored inside for so many years, there is no rust to speak of, expect some light surface rust. All of the floors, door sills and even the original wood in the cargo area are rock solid. All of the interior door trim has been replaced and I have the original trim pieces that are in real good shape. I also have a bunch of spares and other parts, includingthe headliner trim. I also have a ton of receipts for parts and work, as well as just about every part catalog and service manual you can think of.

It will be hard to find another Suburban this solid and rust free. I personally like the patina and could see this becoming a delivery truck for a brewery, winery, or any business looking for a unique truck that will have people talking. This truck runs and drives great! Don't miss out on this one, as you might not find another one this solid and this extensively updated / refurbished.

PRODUCTION HISTORY

The 6th generation Suburbans featured a single driver-side door and two passenger-side doors, and were available in both2WDand4WDmodels.

Engines offered over the six model years included the 250 and 292 CI inline 6, 283, 307, 327, and 350 CI small block V-8, and 396/402 CI big block V-8. For the first time, a three-quarter ton version was available.

A new grille with a wider horizontal centerpiece debuted for 1969along with a foot-operated parking brake (which replaced the former hand brake). A quartet of new V8s debuted this year: a trio of 350s with outputs ranging from 255 to 350 horsepower and a 396 with 310 horses but more torque than the smaller V8s.

This series would also be the last to offer C-10 & C-20 panel truckmodels for commercial purposes, with 1970 as the last year.
