Hi and thanks for looking. Please read carefully. I am selling my 1968 Camaro SS Convertible. This is a factory SS Convertible with the matching #'s 350 /290 hp. The engine is paired with the original 2 speed power-glide transmission. This is not an SS clone or a tribute - it's the REAL DEAL and it's rare. This is an investment. You don't see many first generation Camaro's out there with the engine it was born with, let alone an SS Convertible. This is a special opportunity for the lucky buyer.
I found this car in a barn in Western New York in July of 2011. It had been sitting in the barn since it came to rest in 1987 with 67,xxx original miles on it. I trailered the car home with me to Indiana where I began its nut & bolt restoration the following year. As with many restoration projects, the expenses far out weigh the value of car and unfortunately have been unable to 100% complete the car.
The restoration, body work and paint are immaculate. The pictures DO NOT do it justice. This is a show-quality restoration down to every nut and bolt. The engine, the original 350, has been completely rebuilt.
As you can see in the photos, final assembly of several components and trim need to be completed. I have ALL of the original parts, chrome, etc. fully restored and ready to install on the Camaro. The original bumpers (and all chrome trim) have been professionally re-chromed to a show-quality mirror finish.
The only two items that the new owner will need to purchase is the vinyl convertible top (the convertible frame is in perfect working order and it is a power top) and the interior carpet.
This is easily a $45,000+ car when complete, but my reserve price is much less than that considering that it will take approximately 40-50 hrs of labor to complete the assembly in addition the cost of the top and carpet. There may be some miscellaneous assembly parts (nuts/screws, etc.) needed as well that I hadn't accounted for.
