Beautiful Black 427 1966 Corvette with great ownership records!
1966 Chevrolet Corvette Description
Vehicle Overview
This 1966 Big Block Corvette Coupe has had 4 owners since new and been meticulously cared for its entire life. A detailed ownership diary accompanies the car showing service and repairs all the way back to day 1 of its life. This comprehensive journal shows even fuel and miles driven, plans to improve the car, all sorts of specifics giving hints to the level of care this care received. Through the careful record keeping and Protect-O-Plate imprints we can verify this Corvette was originally ordered with the highly desirable and optional L72 427 V8 producing a thundering 425 horsepower. The car was chassis dynoed in 2011 pushing nearly 400 foot-pounds of torque to the wheels proving it's still makes an amazing amount of power even by today's standards (dyno sheet included with the car). A recent frame-on restoration was performed on the superb no-hit body where it was repainted in its original code 900 Tuxedo Black per the original trim tag. We also have pictures documenting the cars original paint condition before being stripped and repainted. The rare 420 Saddle Vinyl interior is mostly original and in marvelous condition. The chrome, stainless, and the rest of the trim are all polished to a bright shine. To top it off this coupe comes with great-looking set of reproduction aluminum wheels with bolt-on knock-offs, wrapped in BF Goodrich Silvertown Gold-line polyglas tires. This car has been judged by the NCRS and was awarded a 2nd Flight ward before restoration, judging sheets and award to be included with the car. As noted in the pictures and description below, this 427 has been rebuilt/decked at some point in its life and no longer shows the VIN derivative on the engine pad. However, part of the engine date/suffix is legible and shows the important I code. In conjunction with the engine having the correct block casting number (3368942) and casting date (E86), along with date-correct 425HP heads (3873858 E26) and other correct components, which further proves this to potentially be the correct motor for the car. Even the transmission and differential markings match the imprint from the protect-o-plate further validating the rest of the drivetrain. Adding to the collectability; in 1966 less than 5% were finished in Tuxedo Black and only 20% of Corvettes manufactured had the optional L72 427 V8 under the hood, making this an extremely rare combination. Also included with the car is the NCRS Shipping Data Report, '66 Corvette brochure, owners pin, service records, and previously mentioned owner history. This tremendous time capsule is in excellent running order and ready for its next owner!
