The '65 Corvette marked the end of one era . . . and the beginning of another! By '65 Corvette was entering the "World Class" category with the introduction of standard 4-wheel disc brakes and the mighty (one year only in the Corvette) 396ci big block engine. But it was also leaving behind the legendary 327ci fuel injected Small Block engine. Up to the intro of the 396, the "Fuelie" 327 was the more powerful engine you could get in a Corvette! And at 375hp, this solid lifter engine was and still is a beast!!
This '65 Fuelie just arrived after being in hibernation in a private collection in So. Cal. for over 35 years! It was in the over 100 car collection of a very good and renown collector client of ours. It's very original with a correct #'s matching fuel injected 327 and 4-spd. transmission. The F.I. unit has been rebuilt and the brakes have just been done. It's been painted a couple times, but the interior is believed to be original and in excellent condition! The engine runs strong! Having just driven the car, I can attest to that! It's equipped with power windows, AM/FM radio and knock-off (reproduction) wheels with white wall tires. This is the last and best year for the fuel injected engine. It's also the rarest of the mid-year fuelies, being 1 of only 771 built in '65!
