1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Description

1969 CHEVELLE SS396 FOR SALE
(Please read the description closely)
I recently bought this car from a private seller. He and the prior ownerbelieve that this is a REAL Chevelle SS396 car. However, we do not havea build sheet or protecto-plate, so please ask me lots of questions and comesee the car if possible before bidding.
Unfortunately, Chevrolet offered the SS 396 as an option in 1969. There is no documentationin the VIN number or trim tag. Also, Protecto-plates and build sheets are now beingreproduced so even those items can be suspect!
This car was originallyButternut Yellow with Black vinyl top. It had been repaintedin a dark Purple. Looks OK from 10 feet but needs a repaint in my opinion.
The car upon close inspection appears to be an unmolested SS396 . All the SS emblems, Grill, Tail lights, interior appear to be appropriately worn! I do not believe that anyone would make a fake when good reproductions are available.
The big tipoff to me is that there is a gas tank return line. This was found ONLYin the 396/325-350 HP cars. It was NOT found with any other engine includingthe 375 hp L78. The Tachometerwhich appears totally original has a 5500 rpmredline, found only in the 325/350 HP engines. So, I believe this car to be a REALChevelle SS 396/350 HP car!
In addition there is a glovebox light switch. My research says this is foundonly in the SS396.
The grill has the correct center bar that is metal and removeabl, unlike allthe other Malibus. There is still some residual blackout paint on the grill.
Again, this stuff can all be faked but it all looks original to this car
There may be othertipoff so, experts out there, let me know. Please don't benasty as I'm not an expert and just trying to be as accurate as possible.
The car came with Rally wheels which I believe are incorrect; but I have purchaseda set of original dated SS Wheels that are included
Also, I have begun a restoration on the car so have purchased quite a few n.o.s.parts that are included.
The prior owners have done the following at some point:New gas tankBrake Power master cylinderflowmaster muffler and dual pipesNew Front Brake calipersRebuilt 12 bolt Posirearend in 3:73FloorDyna-matted, new carpet and headlinerNew shocks and springsRadiator and hoses
I have tried to give as much info as I can on this car but it is up to the buyerto do his or her research before bidding. The car is alwaysavailable for inspectionby appointment. This is an auction and as such, the car is sold as is with nowarranty of any kind.
I have 106 pictures of the car on my Flickr photo site. Go to:
world wide web Flickr dot com/photos/xkenut
for many additional pics; especially the frame and floors
I have a clear Indiana tile in my name. No Hassles!!!
Buyer is responsible for all shipping expenses. I will help load everything andassist in any way I can.
