1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Description

I took this car on trade recently and the only information I have is from the previous owner. The car does drive very nice. The description below is from a newspaper article done on the car.

The engine is a 355 cubic inch aluminum headed small block Chevy V-8 that sports a rarely seen Barry Grant high-rise intake manifold topped by no less than four Demon 2-barrel carburetors. The Bel Air, in fact, is often recognized by that unusual setup.

It has 15-inch American Racing 5-spoke mag wheels with tri-bar spinners, outfitted with Hankook blackwall radials, 205/65R15’s in front and hefty 235/70R15s stuffed inside the rear wheel wells.

The Bel Air is equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels, along with power steering, so it drives like a modern car. The drive train includes a late model 700R4 automatic transmission and a 12-bolt differential fitted with 3:55 gears.

The engine is dressed up with color-keyed old school ribbed Cal Custom-style valve covers and air cleaners, with Billet Specialties drive accessories for the Vintage Air air conditioning and power steering. An oversized Be Cool polished radiator and hood support round out the underhood brightwork.

The valve train consists of roller rocker arms and a Comp Cams camshaft that has “just enough bump” to make the Hedman headers and 2 1/2 inch exhaust exiting through Flowmaster mufflers sound as good as the car looks.

And look good, it does, bathed in late model Indigo Blue and Cream colors from the Chrysler paint book. A closer look reveals the factory optional front and rear bumper guards, including contoured bumper end caps, as well as the optional rocker panel trim extending up the lip of the front fenders.

The interior has a smooth, finished look for the Bel Air, with a polished billet aluminum dash insert and a set of white-faced Auto Meter gauges and a custom console.

A pair of 1970 Chevelle bucket seats were upholstered in rich gray Ultra Leather, done in rectangular pleats, with a rebuilt stock rear seat done to match. The pattern repeats down the center of the custom-stitched headliner. Power windows are operated by the crank handles.

The front suspension is all new with Global West tubular control arms.
