1965 C10 SWB FLEETSIDE
HISTORY
I am the second owner – original owner died in his eighties and the family kept it another 10 or 12 years but did not drive it. I purchased it from the family approximately 8 years ago. I am in my 60’s so it has always been adult driven. I have put about 6,000 miles on the truck so it now has 90,200 miles. I have a clean title as well as a copy of the original title. I also have the original owners manual, protect-a-plate, and other paperwork.
PAINT & BODY
Blue paint is 100% original - No re-spray or touch up anywhere. The patina has been earned over 51 years and not faked in a body shop. Wheels and hubcaps are the only things repainted. Minor dings and scrapes as you would expect and some hammer marks on the right rear quarter panel behind the wheel where a dent was knocked out. Not much rust for an unrestored truck. I have patch panels for the rust at the bottom of the front fenders behind the wheels. I also have a clean set of inner fenders, as the originals have some rust. Cab floor is very solid with exception of daylight cracks at the bottom of each kick panel. Doors open and close solidly, with no sagging. All glass is good. Roof, roof pillars, hood and tailgate are all solid. Upholstery on seatback is original – bottom cushion was re-covered about 30 years ago. Interior has original paint. I purchased new wheel tubs in preparation for putting in a new wood bed kit but the wood has not been ordered. I will leave that up to the new owner.
MECHANICAL
Runs, drives and steers great. I would drive this jewel anywhere. All lights and gauges work. Original AM radio works good. New maintenance items include:
New tires
New brakes
Upper and lower ball joints
Tie-rod ends
As is typical with these particular trucks, the linkage sometimes hangs up shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I am told it’s an easy fix but it starts out fine in second gear so I just drive it second and third with no problems.
NOTE
I’ve described it the best I can in the space allowed, but I encourage you to inspect it in person before you bid. You are NOT bidding for a test drive – you ARE bidding for ownership of the truck. It is a wonderful, un-restored survivor, but it is 52 years old, so there are no guarantees.
