1979 Chevrolet Corvette Description

Up for sale is a 1979 Corvette C3, with manual transmission and the higher horsepower L-82 engine for that year.
This corvette was originally a barn find by a dealer out in Lima, Ohio. I purchased the car from the dealer in 2012 and have been restoring all mechanical components to a fully operational condition. It starts right up and runs great--it has excellent oil pressure. The following things have been done so that you too can enjoy all the fun this Corvette has to offer:

The good:
  • new 4-speed T-10 transmission
  • New clutch
  • New Hurst shifter and linkage
  • New driveline components (u-joints, all three driveshafts)
  • New suspension (shocks/struts)
  • New polyurethane bushings (upper/lower control arms)
  • New brakes (pads/rotors/calipers--all for wheels)
  • New rubber brake lines
  • spark plugs/wires
  • New distributor
  • New water pump
  • All new tires (alignment complete)
  • New Hedman headers andaluminum gaskets
  • New Hooker exhaust pipes and mufflers (straight pipes, no cats)
  • New steering coupler (Flaming River)
  • Rebuilt power steering system (pump/valve)
  • New timing chain
  • New hard fuel line (from mechanical fuel pump to carb)
  • New Edelbrock carburetor
  • New polyurethane engine mounts,
  • New power brake booster (exterior appears a little rusty after only 6 months)
  • New brake master cylinder (exterior appears rusty after only 6 months)
  • Battery is about a year old, always maintained on battery tender
  • New flip-up headlight springs/restoration kit on driver and passenger side
  • Both rear trailing arms completely rebuilt (new Timken bearings/bushings)
  • Alternator (generator) rebuilt (excellent charging power)
  • New Powermaster mini starter
  • New starter wire harness
The not so good:Please see pics--It needs paint. The hood has fish eyes and the rest of the paint appears to be fading and scratched. It looks fine from 20 feet, but any closer and the paint imperfections are clear. The interior is original to the car. The dash has a crack in it, and the carpet should be replaced at some point. The steering wheel is also original, and the leather is cracked, in need of replacement. The power door locks do not work--I've just been manually locking the doors with no problems. Equipped with air conditioning, but it was discharged long ago. As a result, I don't even have a belt running the air conditioning compressor, as there is no point. Rear bumper has cracks in the plastic above both brake lights. The front nose of the car also has paint chips as seen in the pics. A spider crack can be seen in the hood. Only the passenger side front and rear speakers work. No audio out of the driver's side front and rear. The passenger side front speaker grille is cracked on the dash around the grille, so it does not sit flush on the dash. The glove compartment door has a slight bend in the upper right-hand corner, like someone tried to force it open once in the past. Although new headlight springs have been installed, the headlights are still slow to open--they still get there, you just have to be patient.
Informational:I have removed the gas vapor canister as the charcoal inside was beyond it's life service. I have installed a vapor gas cap and plugged the original vapor line. Not super-environmentally friendly, but the Corvette doesn't stink like gas anymore either. Also, the exhaust pipes are clamped and not welded. Original spare tire and carrier are included--I do not have them attached to the car as I consider them unnecessary weight in the back.
Please note that a deposit of $500 is due via Paypal within 24 hours of auction closing. NO EXCEPTIONS! Clean and clear Ohio title in hand. I work and travel a lot during the week--In-person viewings of the car might be a little challenging on my part. The pictures speak for themselves. Please feel free to email with questions.
PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME AND ASK FOR THE RESERVE PRICE--I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL ALSO NOT END THE AUCTION EARLY, SO PLEASE DON'T ASK. THE ENDING WINNING BID PRICE IS THE PRICE OF THE CAR. PERIOD. THERE IS NO 'HAGGLING' FOLLOWING THE END OF THE AUCTION. THANKS!!!
