1968 Chevrolet C-10 Custom Description

Beautifully restored (2 year restoration) 1968 1/2 ton Chevrolet original short bed pick up from South Carolina. 1968 was the first year a big block was offered and most of them were in 3/4 ton or camper editions. As a result, this truck is very uncommon as it is a 1/2 short bed that was ordered and still retains its original 396 big block and Turbo 400 transmission. This is also a highly optioned truck and has the Custom trim, two tone paint, tach, power steering, power brakes, wood bed, etc. The truck received a frame off restoration a few years ago and has only been driven a couple thousand miles since. While the truck was fairly rust free, the body was stripped to bare metal and any rust, such as rocker panels were replaced. The engine and other mechanical components were rebuilt and everything functions as it should. All of the rubber, weather stripping, body mounts, wiring, trim, wood floor, NOS Hubcaps, glass, etc is new. This is essentially a new 1968 C10 with a few minor changes to improve comfort and driveability.
As previously mentioned, the engine, transmission and rear end are original, however the radiator, intake, carb, air cleaner, steering wheel, tilt column, seat belts, headers & exhaust, retro radio, 8" wide powder coated wheels, front disk brakes are not original. I have some of the original parts such as air cleaner, intake and exhaust manifolds, seat belts, front brakes, trim, etc. In addition, when I converted to front disk brakes this spring, I used CPP 2.5 inch drop spindles combined with Early 1" drop springs, CPP drilled and slotted rotors and stainless lines. I also replaced the master cylinder with a CPP "Corvette style" and replaced the metal front brake lines. The back brakes are drum however I have Early 3" drop springs and a 1.5" lowering blocks with CPP shock relocation brackets, Belltech performance shocks and a double adjustable track arm. The switch to front disk brakes made a dramatic difference and the suspension is smooth, comfortable, handles well and nothing rubs or hits, even when going over bumps. This truck is repainted in original med. poly blue metallic and white and is beautiful in the sun. While there have been some changes from original as mentioned, this is overall a fairly original truck and many of the changes are not visible/noticeable. This truck get compliments wherever it goes and is easily one of the nicer C10's around. This is not a truck that had some spray paint can restoration, again everything was disassembled, frame and body stripped, and every nut and bolt was restored and/or replaced. Mechanically, as you would expect it's in great shape and can be driven anywhere. The truck isn't driven in the rain and is garage stored. I should also mention that while the door emblems say "CST" the truck is actually a "Custom" and the CST emblems were added when it was restored. Please look at the pictures as they give a good idea as to the condition as well as a couple of pictures during the restoration process.
While this is an extremely nick truck it isn't perfect and does get driven on nice days. It has a few minor paint chips and/or scratches and it has a slow and small oil leak, it leaves a few drops of oil on my garage floor, again minor. Overall, this is what I would consider a high end driver that has been restored to a high standard and gets constant compliments. I'm listing it for sale, although I don't have to sell and am only selling as my boys have grown so much the past year trying to fit the family in the truck is becoming increasingly difficult. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like me to take some additional photos. Also, the truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Thank you.
