1931 CHRYSLER ROADSTER RESTO MOD GREAT GATSBY CUSTOM DUESENBERG PACKARD IMPERIAL
1931 Chrysler Other Special Description
This 1931 Chrysler Special Roadster is a custom-bodied one-off car, built as the vision-quest of its creator for his own use - an auto-body restorer of classics in Oklahoma that knew what he wanted and built it. Starting with a huge 153.5 inch wheelbase (same as a Duesenberg) and an overall length of 21 feet, this car features: Six 20" Original Buffalo wire wheels (Identical to those featured on 1930's Rolls Royce Phantom's and Duesenbergs) with chrome original snap-on trim rings, Six 700-20 Denman Wide Whitewall 6-Ply tires, dual side-mounts with Velvac vintage style chrome mirrors, rumble-seat with upholstery matching the interior and chrome step, Fold-Out Windshield and Window Wings, Packard Motorcar Company Pilot Ray self-steering lights (they move as the steering wheel moves, similar to a Tucker!), C. M. Hall Chrome Spotlights, hidden disc brakes in original drum housing to make it appear original, trunk rack, period original frame and suspension parts, original gas tank and cap, Tri Lite Standard original stop lights, one that illuminates stop, with license plate holders on both sides, running board lights when doors open, etc.
The fenders are from an L-29 Cord and are actual metal not fiberglass. In fact, the only fiberglass in the car is just around the rumble seat. All fenders are metal as well as the doors, hood, floor pans, etc. There are five motor doors in the hood on each side that open in a v-top style and each side includes a brace to hold the sides up as they are significantly heavy.
This car has been engineered to be as reliable as its good looks, featuring: 45055 miles, a Ford 351 Cleveland V8, column-shift automatic transmission with built-in gear indicator on the dash, power steering, disc-brakes, working vintage air conditioning and more! The exhaust sounds completely stock, very quiet without a big cam or anything, adding more to the restomod feel of the car. It even has turn signals embedded in the headlights.
The exterior is finished in two tones of Dove Grey and the interior in Burgundy, as well as the wire wheels. It also has painted burgundy pinstripes along the body lines. The top has been recently replaced with chrome braces and finished wood frame. It also comes with a full boot that matches the seats, door panels, and rumble seat. The gauges utilized are vintage and look very period in the car. It also has a tilt steering column and a cigarette lighter! Finally, it comes with a small custom chrome fire extinguisher down by the base of the seat.
The real feel and looks of the 30's without the usual pitfalls ; a very imposing, expensive looking car you can drive anywhere and it is titled as a 1931 Chrysler. Always detailed and serviced regularly, it's the only one in the world! It was once in famed collector Robert Pass’s collection just to give you an idea of its quality. This unique motorcar is a rolling work of art and ideal for everything from touring to showing at car events where it will receive attention as only a unique one-off car can. Given its reliability and phenomenal looks, it would also make for a dynamic movie car!
