1986 RED CHRYSLER LASER AUTOMATIC 4-CYL. 2D HATCHBACK FOR RESTORE, REPAIR, PARTS
1986 Chrysler Laser Description
Up for sell is my 1986 red Chrysler laser automatic 2-door hatchback 4-cylinder for restoring, repair or parts.
The car is currently not running. The last time I had it running was the summer of 2016, when something went wrong with it, probably the starter or something more minor like that, so I just decided not to drive it anymore instead of putting more money into it. I would say it wouldn't take all that much to get it going again, but I am not sure what is wrong with it, as I am no mechanic.
I bought the car used in 1990 and it had about 58,000 miles on it then. Just a few months after I bought the car, I replaced the original motor with a 22,600-mile rebuilt motor. That motor has been in the car ever since. As of now, the odometer reads 133,500 miles. I drove the car regularly from 1990 to 2016. Unfortunately, the car has always been parked outside. As far as I know, I have never had an accident with the car.
Since the car has always been parked outside, I guess you could say it's in pretty rough condition. There is rust primarily all around the outside bottom edge of the car, with several areas that are rusted through. And also, there are some areas underneath the car that are rusted through, I believe primarily under the driver's seat, but it's hard to look underneath right now because of the way the car is parked. As of when I stopped driving it in 2016, it was still safe to sit in the car and drive it. But keep in mind, the car has been sitting outside for about two years now. Right now there is a flat tire on the driver side back end from sitting so long. I bought two new tires for the car around 2013-2015, but the car has been sitting for two years so I don't know how good they are now. The passenger front tire has the spare on right now because the regular tire for that side is flat. I have a Kenwood cassette player inside the car, but the cassette player doesn't work, but I think the radio does, but not sure. The car does have air-conditioning, but it never did work all that well. The fuel gauge does not always read accurate, it seems to stick a lot. I believe the car's transmission also slips. The car never would pick up speed fast.
To sum it up, there are many things that need to be fixed on the car that are too many to mention or even think of. That is why I am selling the car for restoring, repairing or even for parts. Like I said earlier though, I don't think it would take too much to get it running again. Make sure you view all the photos, because what you see is what you get. If you would like to see additional photos, just send me an email. I highly encourage potential buyers to ask any question they may have prior to bidding on the car.
This would make a great project car for restoring and repainting if that's what you like to do, but it would take a lot of work, time and money.
