1979 Chrysler Cordoba
34k miles!
Rare original!
Up for consideration is my 79 Cordoba. The car is in very nice original condition.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The car was owned for its life then sold to the elderly gentleman I purchased it from. The 34k miles are LEGIT and it drives that way. The clean 360 V8 has started every time – even in the winter. From what I can tell, the car gets around 20mpg highway and is NOT a guzzler with the 2bbl carb. No sputtering or tapping of any kind and it idles very quietly. Tranny has NEVER had an issue – shifts nicely. The car glides down the road on brand new Hankook tires (2k miles) and has the original hubs.
The interior – minus ONE cigarette hole – is 100% and beautiful. The seats are like a lounge sofa and are as comfortable as any I’ve sat in. I believe everything works on the dash – gauges, temp, washers, heater (VG), AC (VG), AM/FM radio w/presets, lights, cruise control, and all of the directionals. Floor could look showroom with a quick washing but is 90% clean without – it is just ridiculous for a 40 year old car! Comes with matching dark red floormats.
The exterior is also very original with no repaint and what is believed to be the original stripes. There are scratches and a chip or two, but overall, the paint is quite complete. There are NO rust holes anywhere and just a small bubble or two barely starting to form. The chrome is great with no rust at all, but is definitely “used”. The filler piece where the rear bumper is has faded a bit, but the pieces are in good shape as far as I can tell.
Other : The trunk is very clean and has no rust. The underside is “clean” for a 40 year old car and has new (1yr+) dual exhaust with I believe some kind of mild turbo muffler. Cruising – it is sedate, but rev it and it sounds like a grumpy V8. Brakes are excellent and saved me from hitting a deer in REALLY bad weather this February.
I have had the car for over a year and have had only minor issues. There was a fuel hose that had a pin leak on the top of the motor which was fixed and the horn is touchy in the cold (has sounded off a couple of times without pushing). The passenger glass is a bit loose when winding up/down (needs tightened). The car needs "pumped" with first start after sitting overnight, but while going from place to place, it starts right up. Otherwise, there isn't much to list of worry.
The Cordoba has a free and clear title. I have taken it on multiple 100 mile trips and I would drive it anywhere. I am selling because of having to potentially move/job loss, otherwise I may have kept it. It has been inspected locally but has an antique plate – so no emissions stickers. This IS a 40yr old car, however, and I am not responsible for anything after sale – this is an AS-IS sale. I can help with transport and have a contact at 123 Transport (as I have sold on here many times). Shipping fees are the responsibility of the buyer – no exceptions.
