1947 Chrysler New Yorker Description

*NO RESERVE*
Listing this car for a friend. 1947 Chrysler "New Yorker" street rod project. Very clean, rust free Nevada car. Only two owners since new. My friend purchased from original owner in 1980. Car originally had a straight 8 engine and Fluid-Drive transmission. A running / driving 1968 Chrysler Imperial was purchased in 1995 as a donor car for the drivetrain (440 V8 engine, 727 "Torqueflite" transmission, and heavy duty 8 3/4" rear end) Engine, trans, and rear end were installed using kits from "Butch's Rod Shop". Engine has new motor mounts and had a new Mopar rear-sump oil pan installed to clear suspension. Rear end has new shackles, U-bolts, shocks, etc. The "Double-Cardan" Imperial driveshaft was professionally shortened and rebuilt with new U-joints as well. The 1968 "D440" engine turns over by hand but has had the heads off in the past to inspect the cylinder bores. A new set of Mopar head bolts and valley pan gasket are included. There is no distributor or carburetor for the engine. Original New Yorker radiator is in very good condition. The original plaid "Tartan" interior is still present and untouched. Floor boards are excellent with no rust. A new "Ididit" tilt steering column has been installed and connected to a manual steering box via "Flaming River" universal joints. Inner fender wells were removed because they need minor notching to clear the 440 exhaust manifolds. Car rolls and steers nicely and can be transported easily. There are three sets of keys for the car and all the locks work perfectly. All four doors open, close, and latch with ease as well. This is a very solid, well built car. "Harmonica" grill is in excellent condition with no damage. One stainless rocker panel trim is missing but all other trim is present and in good condition. This car also has an original "Mopar" spotlight and electrically operated security gas cap. This is an excellent start to a unique street rod project and has had a lot of the hard work done already. Car comes with a clean Nevada title as well.
