AFTER 25 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, I HAVE DECIDED TO SELL MY DATSUN.I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM MY COUSINS BEST FRIEND IN SUNNY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN 1991 AND DROVE IT HOME -2000 MILES.
HISTORY W/ 1ST OWNER;CARSOLD TO MARY THRU FOOTHILL DATSUNOF GLENDALE, CALIF., IN NOVEMBER 1980. MARY DROVE THE CAR THRU NOV 1990, THEN SHE BOUGHT A NEW CAR. SHE LIKED THE DATSUN SO MUCH, SHE KEPT IT.A CONDO RESIDENTWITH AN "EXTRA" CAR INCALIF CAN BE A CHALLENGE. WHEN THE LICENSE CAME DUE (NOV 91), SHE DECIDED TO SELL IT. IWAS IN TOWN VISITING MY COUSIN, AND I BOUGHT THE CAR.
NOTE 1; MARY WAS IN A JOBTHATHAD A LOT OF CLOSE TO HOME TRAVEL, IN AND OUT OF THE CAR OFTEN. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, IT HAD82,000 MILES ON IT. IN THAT 10 YEARS, THIS 110 POUND WOMAN HADWORN OUT;;;; THE LEADING EDGES OF THEDRIVERS SEAT UPHOLSTERY, THE DRIVERS"z" FLOORMAT (HIGH HEELS), AND THE DRIVERSSEAT BELT RETRACTOR (BROKE& I REPLACED IN 1992)
MAINTENANCE; I DONT HAVE ANY RECORDS FROM THE 1ST OWNER. THERE ARE OIL CHANGE STICKERS ON THE DOOR FROM 2 DIFF DATSUN DEALERS. SHE TOLD ME THAT ALL NECESSARY WORK ON THE CAR WAS DONE AT A LOCAL INDEPENDENT DATSUN ONLY REPAIR GARAGE CLOSE BY, AND TO GO AND TALK WITH HIM. I WENT AND TALKED WITH THE SHOP OWNER, HE NEW BOTH THE CAR AND THE OWNER QUITE WELL. HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, THE OWNER TENDED TO IT WELL. THE ONLY NEG WAS THE OWNER CHOOSE NOT TO INSTALL A DASH COVER TO PREVENT THE DASH FROM CRACKING.(AND STILL IS).
HISTORY W/ 2ND OWNER; BEFORE LEAVING CALIF I HAD SOME WISDOM, AND BOUGHT A FULL SIZE SPARE TIRE-BUT NOT ENOUGH WISDOM TOBUY ALL NEW TIRES.NEAR BYT###### CALI A TIRE WORE OUT. MADE IT TO XXXXXXXX ARIZ.,. THE ONLY SHOP IN TOWN THAT HAD A MACHINE TO HANDLE CHROME RIMS HAD A SET OF TIRES 1 SIZE TO BIG. TRYING TO GET PAST THE ROCKIES BEORE THE IMPENDING SNOW STORM, I BOUGHT THEM. THE REST O THE TRIP WAS FUN.
ARRIVING HOME IN MICHIGAN WITH APPROX 84,000 MILES ON IT. CAR WAS STOREDAND HAS BEEN EVERY WINTER SINCE. I USED THE CAR AS A SECOND CAR, A FUN CAR DURING THE SUMMER ONLY, QUITE A BIT THEFIRST FEW YEARS. IN AUGUST 1993, THE CAR HAD 100,500 mi ON IT. THE MAJOR THINGS REPLACE IN THAT TIME; ; 1992-SEAT BELT RETRACTOR, IGNITION WIRES, WINDSHIELD. 1993; DISTRIBUTO, CAP AND ROTOR, IDLER ARM. THE OIL WAS CHANGED EVERY 3000 MILES. CAR RAN AND DROVE WELL, NEVER FAILED ME. CAR USED SOME OIL, BUT NOT THAT MUCH, MAYBE 1/2 A QT BETWEEN CHANGES. BETWEEN 1993 AND 2015 THE CAR WASPRIMARLY INSIDESTORED, ACCUMULATING ONLY 4000 MILES FOR A TOTAL OF 104,000.
