1981 DeLorean DMC-12 fully restored inside and out by DMC Huntington Beach

1981 DeLorean DMC-12 Description

As I mentioned above this DeLorean has been fully restored by DeLorean Motor Company of Huntington Beach. The work began in October 2015 and was completed around the start of 2016 using only genuine DeLorean parts. One thing my dad discovered and I subsequently found is that DeLorean's are complicated cars to work on. Having all the restoration done by DMC ensured that the work was done in a thorough, complete and correct manner. After getting the car back from DMC I brought the car to a few local mechanics that I've used for other restoration projects only to find they really struggled with working on the car due to its unique design and build. DMC restored the body, rebrushed all the stainless steal to make it look new, completed a "black top treatment" that restored all the fiberglass sunshade, bumpers, side windows and other black parts of the car to their true, original color. The front and rear fascia were re-painted the correct shade of gray per DMC standards. On a mechanical and electrical level the car underwent extensive work. The car was garaged its entire life and continues to be currently. Having been a “California DeLorean” all its life the car has faired better than cars from other parts of the country thanks to our warm and dry climate. I drive it a few days per week which has been great fun.

One word of warning: if you buy this car get ready for attention. When I put the car in the driveway people stop and take photos, knock on our door and always have questions. Driving down the street I get thumbs up, waves and general enthusiasm from virtually everyone that sees the car. It’s a car that brings a smile to faces like I’ve never seen.

I’ve been driving my dad’s car extensively since I got it back from DMC and have never had a single mechanical issue thanks to their excellent work. All DMC’s restoration work was completed by the start of the year with a few upgrades subsequently. Excellent tires and brakes. No accidents or minor mishaps.

Excellent sounding Pioneer Acoustics component speaker system and ADS amplifier. Unit comes with remote control, detachable front panel, USB jack, custom color display, CD player, Bluetooth, Pandora and SeriusXM enabled. I also installed a premium back up camera with a new rear view mirror (with built in monitor) for easy navigation of the vehicle.
