1981 DeLorean DMC 12 -Two Owners- 25k-All DMC Service History since 7,800 miles!
1981 DeLorean DMC-12 Black Description
This is an exceptionally well-documented and well-maintained example of a 1981 DeLorean. I have owned it since 2003. It has ONLY been maintained at authorized DeLorean Service Centers at Houston, Texas and West Sayville, NY.
It was most recently FULLY inspected within 100 miles ago at the DeLorean Service Center in Houston, TX. It is ready to drive anywhere. The 30,000 mile service was done. The car needs nothing. Several minor items such as the interior light switch, a few light bulbs, etc were completed at the same time.
I bought it on eBay in 2003 from a Dealership in Texas. The original owner had traded it in. It had 7,800 original miles. At the time I bought it, I took it to DMC Houston where all the existing recalls were completed. I had some other service done in order to make it a reliable driver. Over the next 15 years I put about 17,000 miles, driving it regularly. I would personally drive this car anywhere.
It has been lovingly garage kept its entire life and only driven by a responsible adult (me). It has the black interior option and the automatic transmission, which together make it among the rarest. It comes with the Flux Capacitor, a DeLorean offical detailing kit, a dashboard sun carpet protector which is not installed, a new and unused extra pan gasket for the transmission (which is no longer available), both official body stripe kits, the factory original key blanks with an LED light which are UNUSED and ready for you to have cut to match the key (these are exceptionally rare and I will not sell them separately). The original factory console clock is in the car and it works (also rare). I have the original DeLorean sales brochure, the Original 1981 DMC Vehicles Maintenance Schedule/Record brochure, 1981 DeLorean Consumer Information brochure, and an original DeLorean Owners Association brochure. There are three hardcopy Service Manuals and these all come with the car.
The factory transmission was replaced in 2004 by PJ Grady authorized DeLorean Service Center. At the time I also had the car lowered by PJ Grady using only DMC authorized parts. The lowering is more of an appearance issue than anything else. It remains at a comfortable height for entering and exiting. The headliner, front and rear fascia were all replaced at the DMC Service Center. The stainless steel body panels are straight, and look good but do have very minor marks typical of a driver quality car with 25,000 miles - nothing stands out obviously. The rear taillight circuit boards were replaced at the same time as the rear fascia.
There are two small punctures in the passenger seat leather which are both repairable, according to a local automotive upholstery shop. They are cosmetic and do not affect the functionality of the seat. The original factory Craig radio was replaced with a more modern CD player. I no longer have the original radio.
If you are looking for a DeLorean, which has been maintained only by authorized DeLorean Service Centers with complete documentation since 7,800 miles, and driven lightly but regularly, this is your car. The reserve has been set to a reasonable amount. There will be no disappointments with this car. Bid to win.
Your offer to purchase is a contract. You are bidding to PURCHASE the car, not to "come take a look at it" or "to inspect it." Inspect it prior to making an offer. I will make arrangements for you or your agent to inspect it. I will demonstrate the car by driving it myself with you as a passenger. Payment must be received in full - only AFTER my Bank says the funds have been irrevocably received, you may pick up the car. No scammers- you will be reported and dealt with by the authorities.
This car has been described as accurately as possible, but it is being sold AS IS / WHERE IS. If you have any questions or want more details or pictures, ask before you bid.
If you have negative or zero feedback, I will cancel your bid.
