DeSoto 2dr custom
1949 DeSoto 2dr custom Description
This is a 1949 Desoto Custom Club Coupe that I pulled out of a local barn. It is 90 plus percent complete and seems to be only missing some trim parts, bumper bars, and a marker light lens in the rear. The body is in great shape except for a very minor dent on the top of the driver's side rear quarter panel. It is so small as to be hard to photograph. I believe the original paint to be Midnight blue in color and there is still quite a bit of it remaining. The original spare tire is present and what I believe to be the original jack. The interior has been ravaged by animals over the years, but the frames of the seats are intact. The windows roll up and down with a bit of coaxing and the glass is intact except for a crack in the passenger side front. The car is water tight and seems to have no leaks. The tail gate closes and opens fine. The hood closes and opens, but it could use some adjustment to get it to close more. I was given a fair amount of spare parts to go along with in including an almost brand new radiator, 5 tires, and 2 sets of hubcaps. We did have to disassemble the front hubs as the brake drums were completely frozen to get it to move onto a trailer. Please note that this car does not run and will need to be trailered. I can assist with loading and the car weighs about 3200 pounds. The story I got on this was that it was a father and son project that was purchased in 2001 and never got off of the ground. Previous owner loosened the radiator and turned the motor over. All I have done to it is put some Marvel Mystery oil down the spark plug holes and wash it. My storage for this rig is failing so it is time for it to go to a new home. I will be happy to answer any questions and take more pictures of any areas of the car that you want. There is a very modest reserve in place. There are also 3 pictures of it in place at the barn I found it in.
On May-23-20 at 14:16:27 PDT, seller added the following information:Note: the car has a clean Washington state title. The floorboards have surface rust on them, but appear to be fairly solid. I have banged in them in several spots and no holes showed up except the ones the car came with for drainage and such. The rockers seem fairly solid as well and have the remains of rubber seals on them.
