1984 Dodge Caravan Description

I'm selling my 1984 Dodge Caravan. It's a collector car that's just starting to gain in price, so now's the time to grab it! If you are curious, do a 'net search for 1984 Dodge Caravans and see how many mint or near mint one's you find. It starts, runs, and drives just fine, and I took it for about a 50 mile drive a couple of days ago to give it some road miles and check it out, and it runs and drives nicely.

To be a collector's classic, a car must be rare, and it must have something noteworthy about the specific make and model that makes it significant. Here's the 1984 Dodge Caravan story:

In 1974 while still at Ford Lee Iacocca and Hal Sperlich came up with the mini-van concept but Henry Ford II decided not to produce it, even though a prototype was built. In 1983, Lee and Hal were now at Chrysler, and Chrysler was in deep financial trouble. They decided to produce a minivan, and based it on the K-car platform. There were two engine options, a 2.2 liter in house produced engine, or a 2.6 liter Mitsubishi engine. As they say, the rest is history. The Plymouth, dodge, and Chrysler minivans were a huge success. This Dodge van is what started it all in 1984.

This one is in very nice almost all original condition with very nice interior, power driver's seat, good carpet, no tears in the seats, good glass, very nice original paint, and it starts right up and drives just fine. The brakes work, and the transmission shifts smoothly. The power steering is smooth. It just had a valve grind, new head gasket, and new valve stem seals. It it almost entirely all original. The valve cover was changed due to a broken tab (reweldable) and the original is included. It has a rebuilt master cylinder, and the left front axle bearing and hub has been changed due to rust in the original bearing. There is one very small rust spot by the rear lift gate window, but it is not rusted through, only surface rust. There are a few small body blemishes, and the sheet metal has been pushed it a bit right behind the left front bumper. The paint is very shiny, and I did not wax it, only washed it off a bit to get the dust from storage off. The carburetor has been changed for another identical carburetor, and the original carburetor is included. The engine is the 2.6 liter Mitsubishi in line 4 cylinder overhead cam engine. The exhaust is new from the muffler back. The engine is the optional 2.6 Liter Mitsubishi/Chrysler 4 cylinder of 103 HP as opposed to the base model 2.2 liter Chrysler 4 cylinder of 84 HP.

This Caravan could easily be in a car museum just as it is, or could be a nice addition to someone's collection.

Payment only with cash or cashier's check, and if a cashier's check, title will not be transferred until bank verifies the check. If necessary, I will set it up by putting the title in escrow to be sent to the buyer once the payment is verified as complete. No sales outside of the United States.

In response to a question, here's some more information:There are a few places where the headliner fabric is starting to sag down from whatever it had been glued to. The fabric itself is clean, unstained, and not faded or frayed. I pushed it back up with the back of my had, and it seemed to stick, but there are a few wrinkles. I think someone who knows what they are doing can stick it back into place and get rid of the wrinkles without too much trouble, but I will leave it alone and not make it worse for a pro to fix it.

When I got the van it had only the wide rear seat. I understand they were often sold new with only the one seat, so there would be some usable carrying space in the back. I also have a second wide seat from a 1987 Caravan with similar upholstery that I will throw in if wanted.
