1966 Dodge Monaco 4-door hardtop Description

This car is from the estate of a friend of mine who purchased the car new. During his illness he was unable to tend to the car, so until I obtained it the Monaco had been sitting in his garage for about eight years. The body is solid; to my knowledge, there is no rust-through (rustproofed when new; always garaged) but possible surface rust. There are scratches and some imperfections on the exterior, but the chrome is good. There is a small stone chip in the windshield.

The Monaco is equipped with a 383 2-barrel, TorqueFlite, power steering, power brakes, power seat, Mark IV air conditioning, tilt/telescope steering wheel, AM/FM radio, and rear window defogger. The car just was tuned up and had oil and filter changes and a new Mopar battery, but will need to be trailered as the water pump failed; it does yard drive. It will require significant mechanical repairs including water pump, brakes, muffler and tailpipe, belts, and likely other items which have deteriorated (e.g., key tumblers are worn; parking and backup light sockets rusted). I do not know the specifics of the work needed, so for further details please consider inspecting this car prior to purchase. My friend had the paperwork and documentation; however, all information was lost when his house was foreclosed shortly before his passing.

The clock and radio work; I have not tried the air conditioning since the car was sitting for so long (last refrigerant used is unknown).

The driver’s seat has some tears and the seat cushion is worn; the rest of the interior is very good, including the headliner. The cloth seats are from a Plymouth VIP as my friend disliked the original vinyl seats. The vinyl top is excellent.

The tires have very good tread but their age is unknown. Interestingly, those tires held pressure during the eight years of sitting. There are two new correct tires in the trunk; included also are three used fenders (two front; one left rear) and a used grille.

The title is clear and in my name.

I reserve the right to end the auction early as this car is for sale locally.
