1946 Dodge Power Wagon Description

This is a 1946 Dodge Powerwagon, mong the first vehicles manufactured after the end of World War II for civilian use. This vehicle was purchased in the late 1970s from a local businessman who purchased it at auction from a local contractor that went out of business. I believe that I am the third owner of this vehicle. Because I did not own the truck from day one, can’t say that all of the truck is original, ut it appears to be.

Serial number is 83908341 and model is B1P1PW126 per the title.

This was a restoration project that got sidetracked and the truck has been in dry storage since being purchased. I am selling because it’s time to move on and I don’t have time for this project.

This vehicle was a factory conversion by the Davey Air Compressor Company that at the time was located in Kent, H. Davey shortened the bed and made a flat platform behind the cab. They then added a 105 cfm air compressor and a 200A Hobart DC welder. This equipment is driven by the rear driveshaft being altered to be switched between being used as a power takeoff (PTO) and the rear wheels. There is a lever and a clutch to engage each piece of equipment independently.

Shortly after purchase, he motor was removed and completely rebuilt. At this time, he motor has approximately 10 operating hours on it. The engine has been started periodically and runs like it should

The transmission, ransfer case, nd axles are in excellent working condition.

The governor was disassembled to replace a leaking seal. It was never repaired and reassembled, ut the parts are included.

The body is solid and restorable. There is some rust on the lower corners of the doors. Some of the body panels have battle scars from normal construction use.

The hood cowling, rill, nd radiator overflow jug were in storage at a different location in a building that was destroyed by fire. The parts are included and shown in the photographs.

The frame is very solid. There is minimal surface rust in spots. The wood floor in the bed is covered with sheet metal and needs replaced.

The winch was removed when the motor was removed and rebuilt and is currently not bolted down, ut is shown in place for the photos.

The second owner had it parked at a local slag dump, nd vandals used it for target practice as seen in the photos of the windshield and roof.

This is a rare and unique piece of American history being sold for restoration to a discerning buyer. I strongly encourage a physical inspection; if that isn’t feasible and you want more photos, lease email for specifics, s I have close to 100 photos. Please email me with your phone number if you think this vehicle is for you and you want further information.
