1973 Dodge Polara Description

1973 Dodge Polara
Remember those 1970s cop flicks? The car chases and roaring V8 mills? The action and adventure? Well you can live some of that behind the wheel of a Mean Green Dodge!

Under the hood is a 360 cubic inch V8. The 2bbl carb is brand new. The motor runs extremely well. Plenty of power and quick acceleration. The car has dual glasspack exhaust which has a mean sound. Behind the V8 mill is a Torqueflite 3 speed automatic transmission. Which works well and doesn't have any issues. This car rolls down the highway effortlessly! I've driven this car several thousand trouble free miles as a daily driver. The car shows 53,790 miles on the odometer. It might be the actual mileage. The pedals show low wear and the car does not smoke or seem to really leak anything. No noises or anything to show concern. Everything seems pretty tight. The power front disc brakes stop this big car with ease. Factory power steering makes parallel parking is a breeze! The car does not overheat or have any issues while driving. I've driven it on several long trips without any problem. Has a newer battery, new hoses, power steering line, tune up, etc. All the basics have been covered. If the car sits sometimes it takes a little longer to start but she always starts and runs nice.
The body is in great shape. The floors and trunk floor are nice and solid. The car was repainted at some point and the green metallic paint shines! There are some nicks and scratches here and there but hardly noticeable. Whoever laid down the metallic actually did a good job. Nice even spray. The car presents itself very well. The only rust I note is on the driver's rear quarter panel behind the rear wheel otherwise the car is solid. The car came from Texas and has Ziebart rustproofing. The chrome and stainless are in great shape.
The interior is mostly original. Original carpet that shows some minor wear in places. Headliner and sunvisors are in good shape. Door panels are nice. The seats have been recovered. Really the only bad part is that the dash pad has some cracks. The seats are actually comfortable on a long drive. I installed a new door seal on the driver's front door. The car does have 6 lap belts as well as clip on shoulder belts for the driver and passenger front.
The car is equipped with factory air conditioning and green tinted glass. The compressor and various components have been replaced. I did charge it and it does blow cold but seems to leak out after a week. I manually jumped the compressor to turn it on as the switch in the dash doesn't seem to engage the compressor. I never investigated it any further but I imagine the A/C could be made operational fairly easy. The two speed wipers work as they should and the windshield washer tries to work but may have a clog in one of the rubber lines. There is an older Kenwood tape deck in the dash that was in the car when I bought it. It works and provides a radio for your listening pleasure. Headlights, taillights, turn signals, marker lights, dash lights all work. All the gauges work but the gas gauge sometimes decides to stop working at times.
All in all this is a decent car that can be driven as is. It doesn't really need anything but a driver. I bought this car to be a driver and this car does the job! I like it since it has that 1970s cop car look. Throw a Kojak light on top and you got yourself a "detective" car. Everyone that sees it comments on how they remember being pulled over by these cars or running from these cars. You hear some quite interesting stories! I am only selling this fine machine as I purchased another vehicle and don't really need both. Yes you can probably drive the car home to wherever you live without any issues.
