1964 Dodge Polara Description

If you are looking for a car that is Rare, A blast to drive and will hold its value? Consider this example.

Up for bid is my 1964 Dodge Polara 500 all numbers matching 426 C.I. Street Wedge, 4-Speed, Convertible. This car is documented by Galen Govier and entered into the Chrysler Registry. This car is # 2 of 7 in sequence built at the Hamtramck, MI Assembly Plant.

I am technically the 3rd owner the 2nd owner had the car briefly to aid the original owner in selling it. The car, spent its life in Round Rock, Texas and is a rust free example. It was repainted in 2006, in the original ruby red color to freshen the tired original paint. No major bodywork was needed, just a few small dings and scratches were repaired. The car has been driven less than 500 miles in the 14+ years of owning it.

I have all of the original parts that were either upgraded to more modern, or aesthetically pleasing pieces.

This includes: Original hood in excellent shape with original paint, intake manifold, carb, air cleaner dual-point distributor, exhaust manifolds, brake drums, wheels, hubcaps, and other stuff. All of this is included, If you wish to go back to factory stock.

ENGINE

Numbers matching 426 C.I. Street wedge rebuilt by SUN RACING ENGINES (Houston TX) Forged Crankshaft, Forged Connecting Rods, Mopar Performance Pistons, with 10.2:1 compression ratio. Original cast iron heads with new valves, and a mild port & polish. The camshaft, and valve train was replaced with a full roller system from Crane Cams. This included Crane Hyd. Roller Cam with 222-230 duration, .509/.528 lift@ .050 on a 112 LSA, hyd. roller lifters, new push rods, double valve springs, full roller aluminum rocker arms., High pressure oil pump, Mopar Performance electronic distributor conversion with MSD 6 AL control box, Aluminum intake manifold STR-14 with custom made cross ram top plate and throttle linkage, and powder coated, polished aluminum (2) EDELBROCK 600 cfm carburetor, braded SS fuel lines from fuel pump to carbs and fuel pressure gage with AN fittings. FULL DISCLOSURE

I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL AUTO RESTORER THIS IS NOT A ROTISSERIE RESTORATION

The car is not perfect, it has been a 13+ year labor of love. I have spared no expense on what I have done to the car. There are flaws in some of the bright work that I had re-chromed, they have a pit here and there. The trim that has not been restored has a scratch here and there but overall, is in very good shape. The front bumper is fiberglass with a chrome finish that is starting to fade in one area. (see pictures) I do not have the original bumper, it was not returned to me from the chrome plating shop that I took it to, to have it re-chromed. They gave me another bumper that had been straitened and it did not fit properly. The glass bumper looks great other than the faded area. The heater box has been rebuilt with a new heater core and temp sending unit but the original cable is broken I have not found a replacement cable. All of the glass is original. The instrument panel has been professionally restored and tested and looks new but when the gas tank is full it reads ¾ full it works fine below that I don’t know why. The speedo is not working I am not sure why unless I did not install the cable properly. I have most of the receipts from the build and the Galen Govier Certification that go with the car as well as marketing brochures and owner’s manual.
