1968 Dodge Coronet with a Chrysler Turbine Engine, CT, Experimental
1968 Dodge Coronet Turbine Description
Selling a 68 coronet 4 door that comes with a Chrysler Turbine Engine. Car has no rear axle, no wheels, rotted out. Now, about the engine that's included. This is a 76-77 vintage 7th Generation Chrysler Turbine free rotor motor. There were SEVEN made. 2 went into modified 76 Dodge Aspens, 1 in the Chrysler Lebaron concept car, and the other 4 went to Chrysler for R&D. I believe 1 of these engines is in a museum, so that would make this 1 of 3 left. This is one of the test engines, where the test probes are still intact. NASA provided technical administration & support to the Department of Energy on this program. The inside of the engine looks all complete, including the power turbine, the rotating regenerator, and all shafts, gears, etc to drive the accessory pulley and the output shaft. The front of the engine appears to have the air box missing, and not sure what else goes behind it. I don't know what else is missing from the outside of the engine. This was an experimental engine, so I couldn't even begin to describe what's not there. But the inside appears to be intact, free spinning, and in sync. This could either be a project for the right person to complete it, or just to own a piece of Chrysler history. Either way, it's pretty cool! The transmission is just an empty case attached for display purposes. The prior listing had a category issue with it, where this morning it was deleted by ebay. The prior didn't have the correct duration. So here's the proper listing for this 68 coronet along with this incredibly rare Chrysler Turbine. Thank you.
Also, this is a factory 318 coronet. This is NOT the car that Chrysler experimented with earlier versions of the turbine with.
