1963 DODGE 440 WAGON WITH 2 DOOR CONVERSION
1963 Dodge Other Description
AT THE RISK OF BEING LONG WINDED LET ME GIVE YOU A LITTLE BACKROUND ON THIS AND ME. I OWN A CHASSIS SHOP AND HAVE BEEN BUILDING HOT RODS AND RACE CARS FULL TIME SINCE 1976 WITH MANY MAGAZINE CARS AND BEST ENGINEERED AWARDS. I BOUGHT THIS WAGON ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO OUT OF SAN DEIGO CALIFORNIA TO BUILD AS MY OWN CAR. WHEN I GOTTHE CARIT WAS A RUNNING DRIVING CAR (SORT OF). IT HAD A LATER MODEL 318 AND HAD BEEN CONVERTED TO A COLUMN SHIFT TO MATCH THE 318 TORQUEFLITE TRANSMISSON. FACTORY A/C CAR.IT ALSO HAD BEEN CONVERTED TO POWERFRONT DISC BRAKES AND A NEWER 83/4" REAR END. I WANTED TO CONVERT IT TO A 2 DR AND SECURED THE DOORS AND QUARTER PANEL SECTIONS TO DO THAT. I GOT THE PASS SIDE DONE AND STARTED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THEN IT GOT PUT ON THE BACK BURNER AND HAS BEEN IN MY HEATED RODENT FREE GARAGE SINCE.I GOT IT BACK TO MY SHOP A WEEK AGO AND I'M FINISHING THE DRIVERS SIDE NOW. AT SOME POINT IN IT'S LIFE IT GOT HIT ON THE BACK EDGEDRIVERS REAR DOOR AND A PISS POOR REPAIR WAS DONE. I HAD MY FRAME SHOP CHECK IT OUT AND THEY DID A MINOR PULL ON IT, ROCKER PANEL WAS NOT BENT AT ALL. BECAUSE OF THE POOR WORKMANSHIP DONE ON THE REPAIR YEARS AGO YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS THAT I'M FIXING THAT ALSO AND EVERYTHING WILL BE ALL TIG WELDED UP PROPERLY. THIS REPAIR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RUST AS ALL WAS SOLID.SUPER RUST FREE CAR. ALL ORIGINAL FLOORS. YOU CAN SEE IN SOME OF THE PHOTOS WHERE I HAVE SCRAPED SOME UNDERCOATING OFF THAT NICE SHINEY PAINT IS UNDER THE UNDERCOAT. FRONT FENDERSARE PERFECT AND HAVE BEEN DIPPED AND PRIMERED, NO RUST EVER. I HAVE SEVERAL FRONT BUMPERS AND A REAR THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN RECHROMED. I CURRENTLY HAVE A GEN 3 HEMI JIGGED UP IN THE CAR WITH A TORQUEFLITE TRANSMISSION BUT HAVE NOT MADE THE MOTOR MOUNTS BUT COULD IF YOU WANTED THEM.BECAUSE THIS WAS A COMPLETE CAR WHEN I GOT IT I HAVE ALL THE PARTS AND HAVE SECURED THETRIM OFF A2 DOOR 440 MODEL FOR THE DOORS AND QUARTERS. I HAVE EXTRaGRILLES, QUARTER GLASS, ETC ETC.HATE TO LET IT GO BUT OLD AGE AND 2 BAD KNEES AND I'M NOT GETTING IT DONE. EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS. I NOW HAVE BOTH SIDES DONE AND WILL POST SOME PICTURES IN THE NEXT DAY OR SO.TO HAVE THE 2DOOR CONVERSION DONE WITH THE PARTSWOULD COST MORE THAN $5000
