Condition: A true number 1+ condition car that has undergone a 14 year Rotisserie Restoration with no expense spared.
Restoration performed by Chrysler NASCAR Legend, Buddy Arrington, his Son Joey Arrington, NASCAR racer, engine
builderand Team owner, along with the assistance of noted Early High Performance MoPar expert, Jim Willard. This car
was restored to exacting detail & was completed in March 2016. Driven less than 20 miles since completed.
The cost to duplicate a restoration to these standards today is $150,000-$175,000 and that is if you have all
the original parts to restore.
To the best of our knowledge, this is the ONLY 1963 Dodge Polara Ramcharger that still retains all of it's original
power train and has never lost a single sanctioned NHRA or AHRA 1/4 or 1/5 mile race in it's almost 1&1/2 years of competition.
I spoke with Joey Arrington today and he verified everything about this car. He said the winning bidder was welcome to call him and
he gave me his cell phone private line. (12/11/17) He is a truly a 1st class Gentleman.
I also spoke with Jim Willard today and he confirmed that he finished the restoration and made sure every detail was
done to precise factory standards.Jim is a world renowned experton early high performance MoPars.
He also gave me his private number and said it would be okay to give hisnumber to the next owner.
Like Joey Arrington, Nate Jr.is also a 1st class Gentleman. I spoke to Nate Berk, Jr....he is now 76 and he is one terrific guy....
we promised to keep in touch...A story he shared with me was oneSundayhe was racing at Maplegrove and he could't get any traction.....
Dave Stricker walked over and offered to loan Nate a pair of M & H "Race Master slicks...Dave wasn't racing that day and Nate when on to take
top stock eliminator....that's the way it was in the late 50's and 60'smost guys were willing to help even the competition.
I haven't been able to reach Nate's younger Brother, Danny, but should be able to speak with him soon.
He still works at Berk's Dodge in the same location.
Here is this car's amazing & unique history.....
A very young (21) Nate Berk Jr. was working at his Dad's Dodge dealership in Whitehall, Pennsylvania.(Berks Motors)
Nate leveled with his Dad.........he wanted a car to go Drag Racing inthe 1/5 and 1/4 mile. He told his Dad he had ordered a
nice Dodge Polara (no post) with the 426 Ram induction, push button automatic 3:91 rear and a radio.
Included with the many documents, is the original freight bill from the Detroit Dodge Factory on T.J. McCarthy Steamship
Company, Dated 10/19/62 with the destination listed as Catasauqua, PA.
The shipper was listed as Chrysler Mtrs Corp & consignee.
His Dad knew what he wanted this car for and he was all in favor.
His Dad realized "race & winon Sunday" and "Sell carson Monday"
The yellow freight bill states it was off loaded on 10/20/62 to P&M Auto Transport and received at the Berks dealership on 10/22/62.
In an e-mail from Nate Jr's younger Brother, Denny Berk he writes "My brother was deer hunting the day the Dodge arrived
at our Dealership. After it was unloaded from the carrier and inspected for any shipping damage, our shop employee,
Bobby, pulled it on the front lift and uncapped the exhaust. WOW! It's sound of music or the roar of Max Wedge
filled our ears. I being 8 years old remember it well. I think that hooked me on B bodies and Wedge power."
"My Brother Nate soon had the big block running to perfection, all the factory trick bulletins and a few of his own. Like
cutting alternator power, small cut fan blades, hood jacked in the rear for cowl induction and his own engine tune.
I think my Brother was a little bit better at intimidating the flag men, as there were only a few tracks with Christmas trees"
"Like I told you in our conversation, on 1/5thor 1/4 mile, he never lost a round of competition" "My family is still
operating the dealership in the same location" "My Brother had M & H racemasters on the street. They had 1 & 1/2 inch
white wall's vulcanized on them to appear as stock tires."
He used some tricks that enabled him to beat Ramchargers that were running 13-1 compression engines. I'm not
sure all were legal?
"The Atlas Bucrons were popular at that time but just were not enough for that Max Wedge"
"Nateowned the car and kept it in the dealership's name and on the MSO. The Pennsylvania Dealer's tag that is on the car
is the Dealer plate Nate used on this car. Also included is an original Pennsylvania Inspection Sticker.
Further documentation is the Car Production Broadcast sheet from the Dodge Assembly plant. It was under the seat and
you can see the black marks from the seat springs. Also included is a 2nd Car Production Sheet-1963-from the Dodge Assembly Plant
and it is in very good condition.
Included is the original 1963 Dodge operating instruction book in poor condition and a brand new one that is a reproduction.
The owners service certificate (6332115243) is in excellent condition which I presume is it had little or no use. No warranty was
offered on the driveline of these 426 Ramcharger race cars. The original envelope that held the warranty and the owner's manual
is in fair condition
Also a 1963 Dodge Ramcharger Brochure, with Berks County Motors, West Reading stamped on the back and a full
color Dodge brochure on the complete line of Dodges for 1963.
Of all the documentation on this car and there is tons, my favorite is a black & white photo of Nate Jr. with his
RamCharger parked out side of his Dad's Dodge dealership with the hood covered with many trophies.
Also included are Newspapers with Nate Jr. mentioning is many, many wins at various Drag Strips.
Nate Jr. saved all the original bulletins from Dodge on how to make these special RamCharger cars go
even faster. Dodge & Plymouth were really into 1/4 and 1/8 mile sanction NHRA and AHRA racing.
They new that "Winon Sunday" translated to "Sell carson Monday" and they cashed in big time for most of
1960's. All the bulletins will go with this car.
I hesitate to describe any car as perfect or restored to perfection...but in this case we could not find anything
as incorrect or needs to be fixed.....This is the best restored and most correct car we have ever offered on
Ebay since we started selling cars almost 18 years ago on Ebay.....Please come and inspect this car...maybe you can
find an imperfection? We could not!
This car was 1st sold (NEW) and 1st titled by Berk Motors on June 20th, 1963 to a Carl Atherbolt, RD 2, Walnutport, PA.

Carl paid the car off on June 20th, 1966
Carl continued to Race his Dodge until 1966. He then pulled out
the engine and replaced it with a 440 motor. Fortunately, he carefully removed the
engine, disassembled & had it properly stored.
From 1966 until 1971 he raced the car with a 440 CID V-8.
He stopped racing in 1971 and the car lay dormant 2001 until Carl sold it
to Buddy and Joey Arrington. They started the incredible restoration in 2002 and finished it with the help of
MoPar Expert Jim Willard. When I spoke with Joey Arrington today he said he personally rebuilt the
engine and he is the best of the best when it comes to building hi-performance MoPar engines.
He kept the original block, heads, intake, carbs, ect and lightly honed the original blocks, put in new replacement pistons,
replaced all the valves, pushrods, camshaft, and balanced and blueprinted the engine. He said it fired up and ran perfect
the 1st time he turned the key. Of course the transmission and rear end were professionally rebuilt.
Joey is recognized as one of the best engine builders in the U.S.
We will supply to the winning bidder the phone numbers of all of the following:
