1977 Dodge Tradesman 200 Van -- Description

1977 Dodge Tradesman 200 “Mr. Norms” van offered by Gas Monkey Garage to be seen on an upcoming episode of the hit show Fast N' Loud! . Anyone who’s into Mopar’s or Drag Racing will recognize the name Mr. Norm and anyone who was around in the late 70’s and 80’s will recognize this iconic van! After making a name for himself in the 60’s and 70’s for his dealership’s involvement in the Muscle... Car scene and drag racing, Norm Kraus was early to notice 2 trends in America in the early 70’s. First was the decline of the Muscle Car era, and the second was the shifting popularity of vans that were being customized by individuals wanting to take advantage of the added comfort and utility these boxy work horses provided. And so Mr.Norm spawned the Conversion Van, brand new (reliable) vans that were customized with all the comforts of home including large, comfortable, reclining seats, a wraparound couch that transformed into a bed or a dining table. Everything including a small refrigerator and even Shag Carpeting, a Sunroof and CB Radio (it was the 70’s)! This particular van was Mr. Norms own personal van that he had customized to his own liking at Retreat Customs in Wisconsin. The custom mural on the side depicts his 1977 “Super Charger Funny Car” in a unique wraparound style that is rather unique when seen in motion! Norm used this van for traveling and family vacations for a few years before he sold it to the previous owner in 1979. Knowing exactly what the van was, he stored it in a climate protected environment driving it sparingly to preserve it just as it was until 2016, when he decided to let it go to someone that would appreciate the iconic significance of this rare piece of history. The factory 440 engine fires right up and the van still drives like a van with 66,583 miles should ( the exhaust shows it’s age with some rattling when started). Well preserved there are some nicks and rock chips in the paint that you would expect but nothing that would warrant compromising the original artwork! (see all 100+ pics) Interior pics depict the original, preserved interior that has held up well with some fading on the rear couch cushions and wear present on the driver’s seat (again, see all pics). Underside pics reveal a solid chassis with superficial rust present on most components. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to own an iconic piece of American Automotive History! And while it does run and drive ( it passed the burnout test!) it should be completely serviced and inspected before any extended driving to ensure safety and reliability and due to our filming schedule we cannot perform any additional work on this van for you, SOLD AS IS/WHERE IS.
