97000 mile garaged rust free excellent driver
1961 Dodge Polara Description
This beauty was in the process of getting new paint and a a fresh engine when the ball was dropped after decades of waiting. Project went bad and car was sold to a repair shop without a motor. I bought the car from said shop as they had given up on finding the correct motor(must be a '61 or older motor to mate to the cast iron transmission).I had a rebuilt correct motor and installed same(Big Block 383 2bbl).Car is now finally back on the road and runs, drives great. motor purrs and transmission shifts as it should. Brakes work well and the car goes down the road straight and suspension feels tight( I replaced a worn out center link and replaced front wheel bearings and seals). It has power steering and manual brakes. All the lights work, gauges all work, horn works, even the radio works. The interior is all original with worn drivers seat area so I installed the Indian blankets over original upholstery. Original carpet is nice but could use a good cleaning. The headliner is tattered and needs to be replaced. The car is originally from Southern California and from there went to Las Vegas. It is absolutely rust free with a very nice paint job over an extremely straight body although there are a few small scratches and chips in the paint.I have some documentation that lends to the fact that it was originally from Los Angeles and that a long time NBA referee was the previous owner. These Polaras are few and far between(the only full sized model that year, most were of the Dart line). Happy bidding or... find another one.
