For Sale is this solid survivor 1959 Dodge Royal Two Door Hardtop project, featuring some of Chrysler Corporations wildest “Forward Look” styling, dubbed “swept wing” in the Dodge sales brochures. Led by Virgil Exner, the Forward Look designs featured sweeping fins that set the car in motion before the accelerator was even pressed, and chrome trim everywhere. The cars were also long, low, and wide, with wraparound windshields and jet-exhaust-styled taillights. Modern engineering features matched the fresh looks, with front torsion bars.
This car came out of a 20+ year indoor storage in Missouri. The previous owner stated he bought the car in California. It has a very solid body with what appears to be original paint. There is a small dent in the driver door and driver front fender. There is some minor rust in the passenger side rocker, and some rust in the lower rear quarter panels behind the rear wheels. The floors are excellent, but there is some minor rust in the trunk floor. See the detailed photos for information. The original interior is pretty solid. The motor is a 361 and it has a push button automatic. The previous owner removed the heads and had them rebuilt – and never finished the project.
This would be a great car to restore or restomod (imagine this thing with a modern crate hemi and transmission, and new disc brakes). You will save money on bodywork, as there is minor rust. Car has a Missouri title and is located in SE Dallas. I am selling this car for a friend – email with questions and I can provide his phone number if requested. Zip code for shipping is 75088. Car is sold as is with no warranty. Payment by cash or electronic transfer. If a cashier check it must clear the bank before car will be released. Seller has experience with shipping cars overseas out of Port of Houston. Thank you for viewing this auction.
All glass is good. Headliner is good. Chrome is original, some surface rust, you may want to rechrome. asked for more photos of driver door and front fender dent.
