Up for sale is a rotisserie restored Mopar Mini National Pentastar awarded REAL 1968 426 Hemi "J" code Charger R/T. This car has been decoded and authenticated/ verified in person by Galen Govier. I have his authentication paperwork on the car. I rotisserie restored this car to match the original color and options which were on this car similar to when it was new. The car carries a non matching 426 Hemi engine backed by a 727 auto transmission and a 8 3/4 rear end. This is an opportunity to own one of the most sought after muscle cars!
From what Galen told me the car came as a Special Order/ Military EXPORT Ordered car with Loaded options for its time of Burgundy Exterior, White Interior, Auto Trans, Power Steering, Power 4 piston Front Disc Brakes and an 8 track player. It came with a black vinyl top and stripe delete I guess to drive around as a "sleeper" muscle car. This car was an Export car which actually went overseas according to Govier. Not only did this car have an export tag, but it also had an additional slender tag which I have with the car. Govier told me this meant the car actually was overseas to Germany. From what I have been told this was a military ordered car.
Here is Galen's breakdown of the options from the original fender tag(see photo of his report):

This Hemi Charger was painted in 2005 by Car Craft in Garland, TX. Before painting the sheet metal of the car was acid dipped and followed by epoxy primer. Much to my surprise, the trunk floor and interior floor pans were in good shape with minor pitting and no major holes.
As I was building this car, I had to find many parts. I received the car with many missing parts when I purchased it. The restoration took 3 years to build. Govier noted the car obtains its Original Fender Tag. Govier noted that the body numbers match. It has the correct Hemi 048 Radiator, Hemi 80 and 81 Torsion bars, Hemi fan 2863215 and the original leaf springs. It also has the correct 742 case for the 8 3/4 rear end. Govier noted the vin seems to have been replaced at some time. At some point in this cars life the original vin plate was lost. The replaced vin has been installed with the original style rivits. He verified that it is a true XS29J8B car which is what corresponds on the vin. The only part of the vin that he thought was not accurate were the last 4 digits, but he said it still was a true "J" code Hemi car and documented it in his authenticity paperwork. In 1968 the last numbers of the vin have nothing to do with the body numbers. The body numbers which are on the car, are located on the fender tag in 1968. He noted the fender tag is original and codes as a 426 hemi car, plus he took photos and noted the original hemi torque boxes, etc. on the car. Govier verified/ authenticated this as a Born 1968 426 Hemi Charger R/T, a True "J" code car.
This car won an award in the elite Pentastar class in 2012 at the Southwest Mopar Mini-Nationals which is by invitation only. This car won BEST OF SHOW at the Southwest Mopar Mini-Nationals in Texas in 2009. It was awarded the Order of the Pentastar as well as First Place in it class. It continues to win many awards and shows when it is entered. This car has been garage kept and hardly driven. The car today looks very nice and still wins shows even though the restoration was completed in 2007. It does show a little age from the first day the restoration was completed, but it is still a show winner and still looks very nice! The reason being the car doesn't get driven much. It is car show ready because it rarely sees the exterior of my garage. Again, this car wins most car shows it enters and is judged in the Pentastar group at the Mopar Mini-nationals which is by invitation only.
This vehicle is sold as is where it is. I recommend before placing an "offer/ bid/ buy it now" on this car to set a time to see it or have someone come inspect it so you can see in person the quality of the car.
