1969 Dodge Dart GTS 340 Numbers Matching 2 Owners
1969 Dodge Dart GTS Description
For Sale: 1969 Dodge Dart GTS 340. Numbers matching, original engine. This is the real deal, not a clone.I'm the second owner. I bought this car in 1971, with 18,000 miles on it. That's right, almost 50 years ago!
This car runs and drives as good as it looks. Always gets plenty of attention wherever I go. Always garaged, and never driven in the winter since I've owned it. I've kept this car up nicely, and so, it's never had to undergo a full blown restoration.
I have the build sheet, and the original fender tag is still attached.
Engine:Numbers matching, original 340 engine, date code: 5-27-69. Original "X" heads.New Edelbrock carb last year, sits on an Edelbrock LD340 intake. Stock intake is included also.Taken apart and reassembled 45,000 miles ago. I had all the rotating parts balanced.Stock bore, stock pistons and connecting rods, stock crankshaft. At that time, the following was also done: New: bearings, lifters, oil pump, timing chain, bolts, Mopar purple shaft cam, Mopar electronic ignition, stock mechanical fuel pump, Holley electric fuel pump in trunk near gas tank (feeds mechanical fuel pump, switch on dash).Factory aluminum clutch fan.Stock original radiator.Ceramic headers.New turbo mufflers in the last year.2 1/2" exhaust from headers to mufflers, 2 1/4" back from there.
Transmission:This car originally had a four speed. It now has a 727 automatic.Rebuilt 20,000 miles ago.Cheetah reverse pattern, manual valve body. This provides VERY positive shifts.TCI 2800 stall converter.B&M Quicksilver ratchet shifter.
The clutch pedal is still hung, and hides under the carpet. Four speed driveshaft is included. No other four speed parts are available, or included.
Body:Very solid car. All original floor and trunk pans. All sub frames are solid. I purposely didn't paint under the car, so you can see that nothing is hidden under a coat of paint. Any rust you see is surface rust only. I had to do a little body work on the rear quarters the third year I owned it (1974), but that has been all.Older paint job (one repaint), that still shows very well, paint code R6 Scorch Red. The fender tag shows the original color of Y4 Spanish Gold; body and roof. I still win at car shows, and people are surprised when I tell them it is not a recent paint job. A couple of small rock chips on the hood, but nothing serious. All glass is good.Seats are perfect. Any apparent discoloration in the photos is just glare, or a reflection.Carpet is in great condition. All electrical items work properly.Chrome is great, including rear trunk trim. Bumpers are perfect.Original dash pad and door panels, that are in great shape.Sun Super Tach.Driveshaft safety loop.Aftermarket rear sway bar.Front disc brakes from a 1973 Duster, with large bolt pattern.Rear axles have been machined to have the large bolt pattern also.Stock drum brakes, rear. All new within the last year: tail light bezels, brake pads, rotors/hubs, front brake lines, master cylinder, front wheel bearings, front sway bar bushings, all shocks.Stock 8 3/4 rear axle, with 3.23 gears.Weldwheel Draglite wheels: 14"x 6" front, 14"x 8" rear.B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires. Left front tire has uneven wear from a misalignment problem that has been corrected.
