1986 Dodge Ramcharger 250 Royal Description

Up for auction AT NO RESERVE is my 2 Owner, California blue plate, 80,000 original mile, rust free 1986 Dodge Ramcharger 250 Royal. This original Ramcharger has spent its entire life in the high desert of Central California, is in very nice original shape and ready for cruise night, Saturday coffee or service at the vacation home.

I recently purchased this Ramcharger from a local Realtor who just so happened to be the original owner. She shared with me that one day in 1986 while traveling to a horse show in her 1972 K-5 Blazer she decided the Blazer was getting a little old and just did not have the creature comforts that were being offered on the new vehicles. It was then her search began for a replacement for the Blazer. And she knew exactly what she wanted. A loaded Ramcharger in a color that did not show dust and dirt and had a roll bar. It was pretty simple.

It didn’t take long until she found exactly what she wanted at Santa Ynez Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth in Santa Ynez, California. She traded in the K-5 Blazer and drove off in her brand new, loaded Ramcharger, (with a roll bar).

For the next 33 years the Ramcharger resided in Bakersfield, California seeing light duty as the Realtor’s local commuter around the streets of Bakersfield. The Ramcharger was never used off-road, it simply spent its life roaming the streets of Bakersfield – No snow, no mud, no salt and minimal rain.

In early 2018 I had the opportunity to purchase the Ramcharger from the Realtor. A friend contacted me to tell me about the Ramcharger and it sparked my interest. So early one Saturday morning I headed up to take a look and was impressed at what I saw. There sitting outside a local mechanics shop, fresh out of hibernation, was the Ramcharger, clean as could be and 100% original. I had to have it!

Unfortunately, I am relocating to Colorado and having to scale down my collection and the Ramcharger is one of 10 vehicles that I will be selling. If you are in the market for an original, unmolested iconic Dodge Ramcharger look no further!

The interior on this rig is clean, original and well sorted. Carpet is nice, original and showing very minimal wear. The seats are original and in perfect shape. The door panels are like new as are the visors. Front headliner is new while the rear headliner is original and beginning to get thin and show its age. The dash is perfect as is the steering wheel and the console. All in all the interior is in great shape! I would give it an 8 out of 10.

As for the body, paint and trim, mostly original and nice. The upper gold portion of the Ramcharger was repainted due to the infamous clear coat failure. The areas repainted look very nice from 10’ but upon close inspection you will notice a good wet sand and polish would do it wonders. Doors close nicely, the body lines are straight and there are no major dings, bumps or bruises. There are a couple dings in the trim most notable being on the right side of the grill, right wheel well and the rear hatch molding. There is also one clip on the rear hatch molding that should be replaced. As far as rust, this Ramcharger has ZERO!

This Ramcharger is LOADED is loaded with air, clock, cruise, tilt, PW/PDL/PS, bucket seats with armrests, PS and PB, and AM/FM – And everything works except the power door locks and SEEK function on the radio. All Instrumentation is also functional with the exception that the blinkers do not cancel. At some point the heater box was damaged and repaired and as a result there is a noticeable patch (to the heater box) on the interior of the Ramcharger.

Mechanically, the Ramcharger is solid and really a joy to drive! No drips slobbers or awful noises. The transmission shifts smoothly, 4x4 works properly and dropping into 4 low is no problem. The 360 runs smooth with no noises, misses or annoying hesitations. Recent work includes a service, full tune-up and carb rebuild. Tires are new and are ready to go!

If you are in search of that ultimate ski rig for those winter adventures to Stowe, Mammoth, Vail or Jackson Hole or just want the perfect surf wagon for those sunny days in Santa Cruz, Santa Monica, Hilton Head or The Hamptons this Dodge Ramcharger is the rig for you!
