1971 Dodge Challenger 383 Automatic Runs and Drives Needs Restored Driver
1971 Dodge Challenger Description
1971 ChallengerOriginal 318/Automatic
This is a great project car for the right person. It runs well and shifts through the gears. Brakes work and so it's drivable. Most all of the lights work except one high beam. It's a very complete car to begin with and the fact that it's driveable, makes it that more desirable.
The car looks really good, in fact, much better, in pictures than in person. It looks great in person except you can get up close and see that the paint job is a poor one, at best. There are areas where rust is bubbling through. Not terrible, but will need attention for sure. The bottom side of the car is decent. It has rust in the inner rockers and transmission crossmember, as well as a few other areas. The trunk floor has been replaced but isn't a great job.
I just want to be clear that this is a good "project" car that you can drive and tinker with until such time as it comes apart for restoration. It is NOT a restored car. I love the look of the sidepipes and Cragars, but that's just me.
The engine is a 1969 383 Non-HP and the transmission matches it. The original 318/transmission are long gone. Non Sure Grip 8 3/4. Nice wheels and tires. Side Pipes are functional.
Interior needs work but overall, isn't bad. Can't tell if the seat upholsteryhas been replaced but it's pretty nice and correct. Overall, the car shows fairly well at 20 feet and is very complete.
Clear title and all body, door, dash numbers match...except engine and transmission.
