1957 DODGE CORONET 2DR SEDAN, ONE OWNER, 100% ORIGINAL CAR, 325, TORQUEFLITE
1957 Dodge Coronet Description
Very cool old 1957 Dodge Coronet 2Dr Sedan.84.400 original miles all driven by the first owner who stopped driving the Dodge at age 85.
The Dodge has an excellent and 97%-98% rust free body. There's some rust in the right rocker panel, see pictures and a few bubbles under the paint in only a few other spots. There's also rust in the left front floor pan, I have not pulled up the rock hard rubber floor mat so I am not sure if there's any more floor rust but I know the left front floor has rust.
The car was bought new in Socorro New Mexico and it was ordered with interesting options for a 2dr post car:325 Poly V83 speed Torqueflite transmissionTinted glassDual exterior mirrorsDual rear antennasRadio and clockThe large DeLuxe stainless gravel guards in front of the rear wheels.
The Dodge is 100% untouched with original paint that is thin, original interior that is very dry.Original hubcaps are like new and 2 sets of original aluminum keys. There's a fair amount to paperwork in the glove box, old registrations, receipts for repairs done, mostly from the early to mid 60's, maps from New Mexico etc.It seems like almost all miles were put on the car in the 1960's and I think at the time it was used as a business vehicle since the owner kept expense records for the driving he did, including trips to Kansas from New Mexico. In 1965 with around 55.000 miles on it the Dodge needed new tires.
Since buying the car we have done some service work, new tail light lenses (the old ones were very sun bleached and dry), rebuilt carburetor, cleaned fuel tank, new battery, we bleed the brakes and got a good pedal but personally I would go through the brakes before taking the Dodge out in traffic.
The car starts and sounds good, I have not yet driven it in traffic.
The next job was going to get the seats recovered and if the Coronet does not sell through eBay that will get done shortly.
