1971 Dodge Charger R/T Description

Re-listed for 3 days with lower Buy-It-Now and Reserve

For sale is my 1971 Charger R/T I’ve owned and mostly restored over the last 10 years.

Texas car – very rust free and all stock.

Original 440, but is a warranty replacement short block (blank stamp pads) at Oct. 14/71, 2966 mi. Now approx. 85,000 mi. – have documents. Matching number heads, intake and correct matching number HP exhaust manifolds and heat stove.

Matching numbers HD 727 rebuilt with Transgo kit, B&M torque converter, flexplate and cooler

New Pertronix ignition module, coil and wires

New Holley Street Avenger 770

New OEM battery tray, OEM battery cables, new battery, new alternator, adjustable regulator

New heater core

New 489 Suregrip and bearings, new Moser axle bearings and seals, new U-joints. 3.23 gear

New front end, control arm bushings, KYB Gas-a-Just shocks, brakes all around, new poly sway bar mounts and ends, new motor mounts and trans mount, restored power steering pump

New front windshield, front and rear glass-out channel Por-15 (L rear corner rust pinhole repair)

Por-15 floor, trunk and upper cowl areas (many pics - solid Texas car - no rust)

New door hinges pins, springs, bushings, Por-15 door-cowl-hinge areas

New Legendary Interior, carpet, door sills – 1 crack on L arm rest pad (the repos are terrible so I was looking for an OEM one to replace it) Restored matching number seat belts

Original AM radio with Rear Fader option, works. OEM antenna

Rallye gauge package with tach – all working

Restored R/T tail lights

Many options – have broadcast and lots of original paperwork

Hideaways, all tinted glass, chrome exhaust tips, A/C, all listed on broadcast - all OEM parts except for some A/C parts and condenser are missing

Lynch Road two-tags car

99% of parts on car are number and date correct: eg. 3 spd. wiper motor (1 year only), correct round-back alternator with 90A upgrade with ammeter bypass kit and adjustable regulator, hideaway headlight motor (1 year only), OEM Mopar 14” trim rings. I will include the rebuilt original numbered ‘71 440 HP distributor. New parts are OEM NOS or come from Year One.

I have located an OEM numbers-matching radiator 3443959 that I will also include with the car. Its particular to Max-Cooling Package 1971 big-blocks and also 1971 Hemis. Very hard to find.

Keys updated to ‘same Mopar key all around’ style - new ignition lock cylinder (not installed).

This car is not being represented as a restored car. A few areas of the car have been repainted, so it is not technically a survivor car either. All sheet metal on the car is original Mopar, no aftermarket. The car was very nice and complete when I bought it, but I had dents repaired on the L front fender, trunk lid and rear valence so those had to be painted. There are other areas of the car that were re-painted before I owned it as well. See pictures.

It is in amazing condition for its year. The floor pans are absolutely mint and the inside of the doors are absolutely pristine. You will not find nicer R/T doors than these. The Texas climate was very nice to this car. I took the interior apart to inspect it when I first bought it. I decided to apply POR-15 as a precaution to stabilize and preserve the car, even though it technically wasn’t needed. I also applied it to the cowl areas when I had the doors off to restore the hinges. Its probably never going to be that apart again so I thought it was worthwhile doing it while I was there, and I was repairing/restoring the window channels with POR-15 as well anyways.

There are only two areas that would need attention in the future. On both sides in front of the rear fender wells, the paint is bubbling as there is rust coming through. I was going to repair these areas as well, but it wasn’t really needed at the time. Now I have too many cars and too many projects at this point. This is an easy repair but there is no reason in my mind to do a complete ‘frame-off’ restoration to this car. Its simply too nice and too complete. It runs and drives really nice, as it should with so many new parts. The engine is still in fine condition and uses no oil. I’ve owned the car for almost 10 years now and taken it to many shows, at which its won awards. Its a very nice car which anyone can enjoy on day one, and for many days to come. But if you should choose to restore it to perfection, its an easy project as its 99% already.

Thanks for looking. PS if you have low or no feedback contact me before bidding. Serious buyers, feel free to ask any questions. I can help to arrange for transport. It has a clear U.S. title.
