1970 Dodge Charger 500 383 HP Go Mango Original Paint Ratty Driver HI Impact
1970 Dodge Charger 500 Description
Up for sale is a 1970 Dodge Charger 500
This is a great project or Ratty Driver which is was what we built it for. This car has been upgraded to OEM Power front disc brakes, and a built period date 383 Magnum and has less than 1000 miles on the engine. This is a comfortable driver as it is and the only reason we are selling this is because we lucked into an almost rust free turn key 1968 Super Bee. I am wanting this to go to a good home, me and my father have built this to restore for us but switching to the new toy.
This car is mechanically and electrically done, just needs body, but can be driven as it is.
Now to the go fast goodies...
Engine: August 1970 383 HP
Bored .040 over to a 390, OEM forged crank, New dampener, clevlite bearings, Eagle H Beam Rods, Keith Black Hypereutectic Pistons, late 1969 906 Heads cut .060 to 72.5 cc per chamber, Mopar Shim .020 Head Gaskets, Mopar .484 Purple Cam, Comp Cam Pushrods, Weiand Dual Plane Intake, Mopar Performance Distributor, MSD Coil, ARP Bolts throughout, and topped with a Holley 770 Street Avenger Carb. We finished the engine swap in late may and has been correctly broke in. Engine is strong and has a oil leak on the original timing cover on the bottom due to the windage tray. New exhaust with flow master 40s and 5111 Hooker super comp headers. New Aluminum OEM looking radiator. New stainless fuel tank with a new 3/8" fuel line.
Transmission: Late 1969 BBody HP 727 Transmission, professionally rebuilt locally in 2016 with a mild shift kit, and a B&M 2800 stall Torque Converter.
Rear Differential: The Original Restored Rearend! 489 Cast third member with a 3.91 Sure Grip. Richmond Gears, Yukon crush sleeve and Timken bearings, new suregrip from doctor diff, new wheel bearings, rear drums 100% rebuilt to OEM spec, Mopar Performance super stock springs, NOS Mopar Ubolts, and Gabriel Hijackers.
Front Suspension and Brakes: All new front OEM suspension except for the original HEMI size torsion bars, Pittman arm and lower control arms. Disc brake conversion was done from all new parts from a 1974 Charger and completed correctly to spec. All new brake lines and proportioning block as well as a new master cylinder.
This car has new M&H Wiring front to tail, halogen upgrade headlights, headlight delay relay upgrade, the original working AM Radio, Vintage working 8 track under dash player with pioneer speakers, new lower PUI door panels, new Ledgendary Seat covers, new dash pad, new correct carpet, new battery, rebuilt/restored heater core (core tested and checked for leaks, but I haven't hooked it up), new windshield and windshield gasket and much much more!
What it needs: It has rust, but still solid, no twists or serious structural weak points. It needs quarters, passenger side rear frame rail (drivers rear has a few holes but can be salvaged), trunk floor, drivers side floor pan under the gas pedal, and all places cosmetic on the rear as shown in the pictures. As anyone knows chargers rust but this one is alot better than most I've seen. Will need trim pieces, interior finished, body and you'll have a show stopper. Windshield wiper motor does not work, and a oil drip on the front of the oil pan due to the windage tray.
The car's story: the car was originally from Prince George's County, Va and used to tow boats to the Chesapeake bay, basically used as a tug, moved to the sheandoah valley and terrorized the backroads near New Market Virginia in the Dukes of Hazzard era, then sat in the woods as a parts car and dormant project for 25 years until I found it in July 2015.
I have pictures from the ENTIRE build and I can answer any question about it.
I wanted to leave the body as I found it but build a ratty driver and it turns alot heads in a positive way or in a negative way in those HOA neighborhoods. As you have probably seen this car on Facebook as it has gone viral several times over, it's known and going to keep being well known. This will come with alot of extra parts including: trim parts, ac ducts, heater parts, etc. Glove box door is signed by Richard Petty and picture to prove it.
Original Options include: Go Mango paint, Black Vinyl Top, Charcoal and Black Interior, Manual Mirror, Console, Bucket Seat, Shoulder Belts, A/C, Power Drum, Power Steering, Basic Radio Group, 383 HP, Heavy Duty 727, Max Cool 26" Radiator I will only accept cash for this sale, pick up only. $500 non refundable deposit due at the end of the sale and buyer pickup as soon as possible.
