1989 Dodge Ram 1500 W-150 PICKUP TRUCK Description

This is a 1989 Dodge Ram short bed truck with 71,490 actual miles and is my daily driver so miles will increase. Note: Tool box is not included with the sale of the truck but is negotiable.

I purchased this truck from the original owner in Phenix City Alabama. He bought it new in 1989. He retitled it to his father who also lives there in Phenix City, e drove it for a few years and then it was titled back to the original owner. He said that for the 25 years or so he had the truck it was not once taken more than about 200 miles from home.

The truck was repainted abouttwo and one half years ago, don't know the exact dates on that. The paint job was done very nicely. High quality finish, 'd say nearly as good as the factory paint. Has a very good clear coat done on it.

The truck is very dependable, tarts easily in sub-zero temperatures.

I use MOBIL 1 synthetic 10w30 motor oil exclusively.

The oil pressure is around 70psi coldand around 50psi warm at highway speeds. (aftermarket Glowshift gauge)

The factory speedometer works perfectly as does the factory water temperature gauge.

The factory fuel tank gauge works perfectly.

Voltmeter reads around +- 14.2 volts. (aftermarket Glowshift gauge)

Water temperature is 180°- 200° depending on season. (aftermarket Glowshift gauge)

All dash lights work including 4 wheel drive indicator light when engaged.

Things that still need doing:

Truck bed (dents repaired/then spray in bed liner) There are a couple of very small areas of mild rust on the surface of the truck bed. Nothing significant but should be addressed. Also the only other rust that I have found anywhere on this truck is on the underside of the rear bumper.

Tailgate handle connecting rod to right side latch must have popped loose, ave to use finger in release on right side to release tailgate when pulling handle. Not an issue for me but would be minimal cost if any to repair.

Needs the body side molding behind the rear wheel on the passenger side (see photos). It was somehow lost during the re-painting.

The window seals need to be replaced on drivers door (the ones around the roll down glass). The passenger side seems good but I would replace all at the same time when doing the driver’s door.

As with many of these models the volt meter does not work. I have the oil pressure gauge disconnected (sender removed and plugged) in lieu of an aftermarket oil pressure gauge although it does still work. (See list of gauges above).

The inner drivers side front axle seal should be replaced at some point in the future. It is not currently a significant or pressing issue. It appears to only be seeping a very small amount of gear oil over time as the outboard CV joint or knuckle is damp with oil.

Passenger side windshield wiper arm should be replaced. It appears that the splines that fit onto the wiper transmission shaft is worn enough to allow some movement on the splines. This seems to be only noticeable with a somewhat drier windshield and when the wipers are turned off and going into their parked position. The cost of a wiper arm will fix this.
