1950 Dodge Power Wagon Description

This auction is for a 19501 ton B-2 Dodge PowerWagon.I would call thisa survivor truck as it is entirely original (except for the plow system) and is99% complete. It was originally built asa utility truck for the Bell Telephone Company. The cab, oors, ood, ront fenders, nd all aluminum utility body are very straight and rust free for a 66 year old truck. All door and vent glasses are in excellent condition and roll up and down- although they are a little clunky. There is a small amount of rust at therocker panel of the driver's side- 66 years of people getting in and out from behind the steering wheel. This truck as not been driven on the road since 1966 and has never been titled in any state. It was registered in New York but that record was long ago expunged by the state of New York.I purchased this truck from the family that bought it directlyfrom Bell Telephone in the early 1960s. They used it primarilyto move engines and keels at a shipyard in upstate New York. It was exposed to very, ery minimal amount of road salt and the frame and cab haveonly flash rusting, ut no pitting or anything approaching structural rust anywhere on the under carriage. The first private owner installed the plow to move snow out of the way in the yard. It bolts to the factory pivot points for the crane system and to two flanges on thebody frame. The plow is actuated by a hydraulic pump which runs off the alternator pulley and powers a hydraulic piston up front. The control lever comes straight thru the fire wall directly from the pump. Both the plow, ts mounting hardware and the hydraulic system could easily and quickly be removed to restorethis truckto its original state.

The 4-wheel drive, inch, arking brake, il gauge, emp gauge, nd alternator system all work. The needle on the speedometer fell off at some point (a common problem I understand). The appropriate brake calipers, rake lines and wheel cylinders have all been replaced. A lever lock on the brake systemhas been installed as well. The brakes fade a bit- I believe the only thing that has not been replaced or rebuilt in the brake system is the master cylinder. I do have a rebuild kit for it though. The engine fires up and purrs like a kitten, lthough on cold days it needs a single shot of ether. I believe the carburetor has suffered of latefrom higher levels of ethanol in the gas. I am certain that once it is rebuilt it will have zero issues. The wiring harness is not in good shape howeverand the headlights and signals do not work properly. The new owner will have to go through the wiring harness from bow to stern.

The truck comes with the largest winch I have ever seen on a Power Wagon and a very long PTO shaft that was used to mount telephonecable reels on. There is a set of guy poles that assemble on the front fenders and bumper that assemble to form a crane that can readily handle 2000lbs loads. All the pins and hardware are the original items. There are several wheel chocks that are original and two spares (w/ rims). All six tires are suitable for around the farm use but would need to replaced if highway travel in the plans.

This truck needs very little to be 100% functional and with all the body panels and frame almost completely rust free and straightwould be an excellent restoration project. I also have not seen a utility body Power Wagon of this vintage ever. Feel free to message me with any questions you may have. Thanks for looking!
