This 1986 Ferrari testarosa is often referred to as the Flying Mirror or Monospecchio model which was only made for 2 years between 1985-1986. Only about 322 cars came to USA in those 2 years ( 122 for 1985 and 200 for 1986). I would think that at least 30% have been crashed or parted out by now making these 1980s icons even more rare.
Desirable early production "flying mirror" model
original miles; original tool roll, jack, and manuals
Unveiled to the world the night before the opening of the 1984 Paris Motor Show at the famed Lido nightclub on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Ferrari Testarossa would become nothing short of legend. With a 0-60 mph time of just over five seconds and a top speed of near 180 mph, its performance and dramatic styling had enthusiasts falling head over heels for Ferrari's newest flat-12 creation. It soon became the poster child for a generation with numerous appearances in movies, music videos, and television shows—most notably in a starring role in Miami Vice alongside Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas.
The Testarossa offered here is a desirable early production example, with a single mirror on the driver's side, mounted high on the A-pillar—dubbed the "flying mirror" in Ferrari parlance, and widely considered more attractive than later versions. Originally delivered by ferrari new york, it was finished, as it is today, in the classic combination of Rosso Corsa over Tan. Today it remains in utterly splendid condition from nose to tail, with fewer than 37000 miles.
Recent services, for which receipts are on file, included changing fluid, belts, rotors etc...
noting that it retains all of its original drivetrain and body components, and remains very much the car that it was delivered as in 1986.
Every enthusiast who came of age in the 1980s wanted a Testarossa, and the early "flying mirror" variant is the most desirable. With low mileage, well-preserved condition, the example offered here is certainly the best of all possible worlds.
