1986 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Coupe, chassis number 65715 is a very rare Blue Medio over blue coupe, reported to be one of only 29 hardtops imported to the US in 1986 and likely the only blue on blue car. This Mondial is not only rare, but also shares almost all mechanical systems with the 308GTB/GTS, 328, 348, including engine, transmission, steering and suspension, but at a fraction of the price.
This Mondial shows four owners, was purchased new in the NY area and has moved from New Jersey in the late 1980s to New York in 2009, South Carolina in 2013, a dealer in Georgia and on to its present California owner in 2016, registered in 2017
Maintained and refreshed by the noted Ferrari specialist GTO Engineering with an open check book policy. Improvements and upkeep included:
•Some bumper and deck lid re-paint to correct minor flaws in 2017, along with a small carpet repair
•Air conditioning, sunroof, ignition repairs in 2017
•Battery and minor tune-up, new head lamp in 2016
•Newer radio with Bluetooth for handsfree driving and audio streaming
Needless to say everything works as it should. The ac, sunroof, all power windows, switches, dials, glove and fuel door releases, even clock/timer, and lights all work perfectly. All wires are organized and cleaned up.
The prior owner maintained records from Karl Troy’s European Road and Racing, and had the following done:
•Dentless ding removals in 2014
•Cooling and air conditioning repairs and service, wheel bearings in 2014
•A major service, belts and water pump rebuild in January of 2013 totaling $13,000 just 3000 miles ago.
The car benefits from an older high quality repaint that is even throughout and the seats were re-dyed. The wheels have also been refinished. The car’s original factory exhaust does not have the typical loose baffles in the tips common to the 308 and 328.
As offered, 65715 is an original and numbers matching rare coupe. Though the Autocheck and NMVDIS reports are clean, Carfax shows an accident was reported from 25 years ago in 1992 at just under 19,000 miles. A full inspection and report issued by GTO Engineering on behalf of its current owner shows no sign of significant impact or repair and it should be noted the California title is clean pink slip. They believe the impact was fairly minor, and either a VIN error with Carfax or the high cost of parts and low vehicle value at the time triggered the totaling. Though the current California title, Autocheck, and NMVDIS reports t are clean the CarFax notes the accident and outcome. Furthermore the Carfax notation is from the state of Virginia where the car was never registered.
This Mondial has averaged just under 1,800 miles a year and is likely the only one finished on blue on blue combination in the more driver-oriented - and rare to the US - coupe configuration.A greatopportunity to own a great Ferrari, quickly being recognized for having a unique combination of handling, now chic 80s style in a usable package.
