An absolute icon of 1980s exotic styling, this Rosso-Corsa Testarossa is a stunning example of a car that defined an era. Testarossas were featured on the cover of Road & Track NINE times in just five years. Examples of the car were owned and driven by many legends including Michael Jordan, Elton John, and of course Don Johnson - who drove the legendary white Testarossa on Miami Vice (he owned a silver example for himself, a personal gift from the one-and-only Enzo Ferrari!).
One need not be an enthusiast to know that the Testarossa is special. The extra-wide, rear stance of the car, low-slung wedge shape, and striking “flying” mirrors let anyone the car approaches know that they are in the presence of racing greatness. The Testarossa has been turning heads since it arrived in the US in 1985 and it will continue to do so long into the future.
The most striking feature of the Testarossa is also the most well-known: the unmistakable side strakes. Although rear-mid-engine sports cars were becoming popular in the Testarossa’s time, many suffered overheating problems and odd styling due to the radiator being located at the front of the car. The Testarossa solved this problem with dual, side-mounted radiators fed by massive vents encompassing the door and part of the rear quarter panel. The car’s design team at Pininfarina included Emanuele Nicosia - a trained aerodynamicist. Nicosia’s insights mean the vents and strakes don’t just provide styling, but also enough downforce to forego a traditional rear spoiler. Once passing over the radiators, air exits upward through ventilation holes in the engine cover and tail. This technique is still in practice in the highest-end hypercars of today. It contributes even more to the Testarossa’s beautiful styling; A sleek, low, unadulterated driving machine.
Only time will tell if Ferrari’s recent win streak in F1 will continue, but one thing is certain - their cars have always included the cutting edge of racing technology honed by the best engineers, drivers, and mechanics the world has to offer. The Testarossa is no different! Particularly unique is the Tipo 113 Ferrari Flat-12 Cylinder Engine. The two banks of 6 cylinders oppose one another at 180 degrees, rather than the traditional 90 degree angle offered in V8 and V12 engines. This meant a lower center of gravity for increased stability and faster cornering. The flat-12 put out 380 hp and 361 ft*lbs of Torque - carrying the striking shape of the car all the way to 180 MPH.

THE 1985 TESTAROSSA FERRARI BEING OFFERED------is an early Flying Mirror model. The Flying Mirror Testarossa’s are one of the most desirable years to collect. It’s a BEAUTIFUL Rosso Corsa (Ferrari Red) with a soft Italian Tan leather interior which is a striking color combination. The car has had several upgrades to improve both performance and reliability. The car is currently owned by a previous owner of a Classic / Exotic Sports Car Service business in Minneapolis Minnesota which specialized in Ferrari’s, Jaguars and other exotic sports cars. The owner has owned the car for 20+ years and has now decided to consign the car to us so that we can find another Ferrari enthusiast that will enjoy the car as much as he has over the past many years. The car has been maintained by top Ferrari Service technicians throughout its life. Very few miles have been put on the car by the current owner. The speedometer shows only 29,000 miles.
The car comes with a full set of Maintenance Service Manuals and the Original Tools.
