1 of 1 ‘Rosso Cherry’ 400i cars
1 of around 1,305 400i produced worldwide
Was a fantastic daily driver before starting complete restoration. Now, I need cash for a different car project, so selling this one with the engine removed and disassembled.
IMPORTANT NOTE: ENGINE IS REMOVED for restoration and comes with the car disassembled. The entire process was documented with photos and videos that can help with reassembly. All parts carefully organized in bags and bins. Engine was found to look good internally. Will need to purchase new pistons and have matched to original liners. Help can be provided to source these items and complete this process if necessary.
Restoration items that were completed to date: Repaint original factory 400i one-off color “Rosso Cherry” (it's a beautiful shade of red and believed to be the only 400i painted in this special color.) Expensive and hard to find new OEM factory European bumpers added. New Michelin TRX tires. Wheels stripped and repainted original silver color. New stainless exhaust system. New rear window. New rear leather parcel shelf. Interior is cleaned up and in amazing condition with great seats and only the slightest pulling on original dash.
Same owner for last 5 years. California car with California license plates! Featured in a fashion magazine called Roar, and a copy of the magazine comes with the car.
Cheapest V-12 Ferrari you can buy and will be a fantastic investment long-term. If you look at the Ferrari value appreciation curve, early 80’s models in this age range will go up soon. I remember when the Ferrari 250 GTE was $50k (nobody wanted them!) and now they are selling for $500k. Note that the 400i has the same classic Colombo V-12 engine as in the famous Ferrari Daytona. Plus, Enzo Ferrari drove one to work himself. They are amazing cars!
