1991 Ferrari Testarossa Base Coupe 2-Door 4.9L
1991 Ferrari Testarossa Description
The Ferrari testarossa was introduced to the public at the Paris motor show in 1984. It was a successor to the mid engined 512bb. It was designed to deal with 2 problems that beset the BB series. An overheating cabin and overheating engine.
The cabin was made larger and the engine was given 2 radiators (one in each pod) hidden behind aluminum fins each side of the car in front of the rear wheels giving it its distinctive profile.
The air was then channeled up through the engine bay meaning that the car didn't require a spolier on the tail as other cars in that era did.
Well-known Testarossa owners included Elton John, Alain Delon, John Carmack, Dr. Dre, Ray Rokni, Austrian Formula One racing driver Gerhard Berger, and Don Johnson, the latter whom was gifted a brand-new silver 1989 Testarossa by Enzo Ferrari himself, who was a fan of Miami Vice.
The Testarossa sports a 4.9 litre (4,943 Ferrari flat-12 engine mid mounted. Each cylinderhas four valves, with forty-eight valves total, lubricated via a dry sump system, and a compression ratio of 9.20:1.These combine to provide a maximum torque of 361 lb/ft at 4500 rpm and a maximum power of 390 hp at 6300 rpm. When new the car could do 0-60 in 5 secs and go on to 180mph.
The car was an icon of 80s pop culture immortalized in Miami Vice and Outrun
