The Pininfarina-styled 308 was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1975 as a supplement to the Bertone-shaped Dino 308 GT4 and a replacement for the Dino 246. Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti who had been responsible for some of Ferrari's most celebrated shapes to date such as the Daytona, the Dino and the Berlinetta Boxer. An updated Quattrovalvole model introduced in 1982, adopted a 32-valve cylinder head, as well as an available small rear spoiler, additional louvers between the headlamps to aid with the radiator exhaust, and power mirrors, amongst other minor updates. With sweeping curves and aggressive lines, the 308 has become one of the most recognized and iconic Ferrari road cars.
This car chassis #50407 was completed in late March of 1984 as a European Version 308 QV, factory ordered by a prominent developer from Mexico. It was delivered on April 16 to Mexico City. In May 1986 Mr. Palacio had the car imported to Houston, TX, federalized, and in February 1987 sold it to Ferrari of Houston. It was later acquired by a Houston, TX resident who also had a home Laguna Beach, California where the car would be shipped to and go on to be with the same family for the following 26 years. Throughout its life, this 308 received great care, maintenance and servicing with three recorded majors services on file. Its last recorded major service was performed in 2008, and by 2010 the car was stored and taken off the road for the next five years. Today, it remains a very original and low mileage example, but will need to be serviced prior to road use due to long term static storage and what sounds like top end valve slap which causes a ticking sound when running. Paint depth readings (see photo) reveal a large portion of original paintwork, complementing the cabin's preserved upholstery. All documentation from its Certificate of Origin, Export, Import, EPA and Servicing records from 1989-2015 accompany the Ferrari in a large dossier, along with its original Owner's manual and Service Booklet in dossier. This incredibly documented example will be sold as-is, where-is and it is certainly a 308 Quattrovavole worthy of serious attention from enthusiasts and collectors alike. Available for Worldwide Purchase and Delivery.
