1962 Fiat OSCA TWIN CAM 1500s VERY RARE Description
In 1937 the Maserati brothers sold their company to industrialist Adolfo Orsi. Not long after the war was over, they decided their real interests lay in racing, and together they formed OSCA--short for the rather more cumbersome Officina Specializzata Costruzione Automobili Maserati wich was found on 1. December 1947.
A variety of racing endeavors followed--including an ambitious V12 Formula One project--but OSCAs shone in the smaller displacement classes. Frequent competitors in important races throughout Europe and America, they were driven by such notable pilots as Stirling Moss, Luigi Villoresi, and Prince Behra.
While producing a wide variety of two-seat racing cars--all clothed by local coachbuilders--OSCA was approached by Fiat to develop a larger version of OSCA's existing twin-cam engine for use in the 1500S sports car.
RARE OPPORTUNITTY!!! THIS VINTAGE OSCA FIAT 1500s TWIN CAM HAS BEEN SITTING IN A GARAGE SINCE 1969. THE OWNER PURCHASED THE CAR IN 1965 AND USED IT MAINLY AS A TRACK CAR LOCALLY AS TOLD BY THE DASH PLAQUES HE AQUIRED FROM DIFFERENT EVENTS IN THE 60'S . THE CAR IS TITLED AS A 1962 BUT I BELIEVE IT TO BE A 1961 TITLED LATER WHEN IMPORTED OR SOLD. THE OWNER PASSED AWAY AND THE CAR HAS BEEN DORMANT NEARLY 50 YEARS HIDING IN A BASEMENT GARAGE.
THE CAR IS VERY SOLID WITH VERY MINIMAL RUST EXCELLENT BODY. THE UNDER CARRIAGE IS SOLID AND NICE, TRUNK IS NIC, JUST SOME SMALL RUST ON THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE FENER. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL CAR WITH MATCHING ENGINE # AND CHASSIS #I HAVE THE ORIGINAL TITLE FROM 1965. WHEN I GOT CAR MANY PIECES WERE IN BOXES, I HAVE ASSEMBLED LOOSE ITEMS TO KEEP THE CAR INTACT AND SO NOTHING IMPORTANT WOULD BE LOST. THE GEARBOX IS OUT OF THE CAR BUT COMPLETE AND FUNCTIONING. SOME THINGS MISSING OF NOTE ARE THE WING WINDOW FRAMES AND THE CONVERTIBLE TOP BOW FRAMES. SOME LITTLE THINGS ARE MISSING FROM ENGINE BAY LIKE PLUG WIRES, DISTRIBUTOR CAP. THE ENGINE TURNS OVER BY HAND AND IS NOT STUCK. THE OWNER PAINTED THE CAR RED IT WAS ORIGINALLY A LIGHT BLUE
